“Self-Driving Route Through Germany, Austria, and Czech Republic”
About Caro:10.0/10
Although not at the airport, there is a shuttle bus service which is very convenient. The handsome guy patiently listened to our broken English and responded, even slowing down his speech!
The car we picked up had a dented door and issues with the headlights and taillights that wouldn't turn off on the first day, but somehow fixed themselves by the second day. We picked up the car at Frankfurt Airport, and even though the paperwork noted existing scratches, the staff at the Munich Airport return location was shocked and called the Frankfurt office to verify the severity of the damage before believing it wasn't caused by us. Another group of Chinese tourists who rented an SUV found a tire pressure warning just after leaving and had to come back; they eventually had to go to a repair shop as there were no spare cars. If such a delay happened to us, I’d be extremely upset. Due to these issues, I probably won't rent from this company again.
The cars from Caro are very new. I booked a Mercedes C-Class station wagon, but they gave me a brand new Mercedes E-Class station wagon upon arrival. An upgrade without additional cost, fantastic! The car was diesel, very fuel-efficient, and powerful, easily reaching 220 km/h on the highway when there was little traffic. The pick-up process was very simple. I had reserved to pick-up and drop-off at Frankfurt Airport. Upon arriving in Frankfurt, I contacted the car rental company, and a friendly gentleman driving a Caro-branded van met me at the airport's Exit 5, holding an A4 paper with my name on it. He drove me and my luggage to the rental office, checked my driver's license and notarized documents, swiped the deposit, got my signature, and I was all set to go. It was a pleasant start to my road trip! When returning the car a day earlier than planned, I filled up the tank and arrived at the return point at 9 PM. The company's staff had left for the day, so I contacted Caro, and they told me to drop the car keys in the mailbox for self-service return. Not feeling assured, I drove the car back to the hotel and returned it the next morning. On the way, I encountered the Caro van and tailed it to the return point. The gentleman drove very skillfully! After some back-and-forth, the fuel gauge dropped slightly. I explained the situation to the gentleman, and he waived the extra charge with a wave of his hand. Amazing service! It was a smooth and pleasant car rental experience!

About Caro:8.0/10
The car pick-up process went smoothly, but returning the car was a bit complicated. The reason was that the pick-up location employee gave the wrong address for the drop-off location, wasting half a day and adding over 500 kilometers. Overall, it was fine.
Although the store is small, the car was great. I rented a Tiguan and got a free upgrade to a higher-end Kia SUV. No upselling when picking up the car, and no issues when returning it. After notifying them by phone at the airport, they arrived in 5 minutes.
Not being located within Frankfurt Airport is very inconvenient. After calling the contact number provided, we realized it was in German, which we couldn't understand. We had to get help from the rental car customer service to reach the store. We waited for about 20 minutes to be picked up at P19. The service staff was very friendly, but the car provided was disappointing. We booked a Passat wagon, but they gave us a Renault Scenic. As someone who doesn't drive French cars back home, I was already skeptical. And my concerns were confirmed — the car was underpowered and very unstable at 130 km/h. It was also a manual, and being unfamiliar with the road conditions, driving it was exhausting. On the third day, we arrived in Munich and contacted the rental company to upgrade the vehicle. We found a Kia SUV at a nearby Munich Airport location. The new car had excellent power, a stable chassis, and many features, allowing us to complete the trip smoothly. However, there was a small incident when returning the Renault at the Munich Airport store. I realized I had left my sunglasses on the dashboard. When I went back to retrieve them, one of the staff had just driven the Renault out. I informed the reception, and they asked me to wait, saying the staff member would return soon. Half an hour later, the staff returned, but my sunglasses were missing. The staff member claimed to have never seen them. Without any evidence, I had no choice but to accept the loss. This incident taught me that not all Germans are highly trustworthy.
