When returning the car, there was no inspection. They just took the keys and told me I could leave. Afterwards, they kept charging my credit card without notification, twice in total, amounting to over 1500 euros. I didn't receive any email detailing the charges either. I had already paid over 12,000 RMB for the rental, which included insurance. I hope the relevant authorities investigate this promptly and refund the charges.
Please be cautious ⚠️ when picking up the car, make sure to carefully review the contract. The counter staff will quickly show you the contract on the computer screen without providing a paper copy, claiming it has been sent to your email. I trusted them, but when I reached my first stop in Ladenburg, I checked my email and found no rental contract. I contacted Zuzuche for assistance, and they helped locate the contract with the rental company. I discovered that the rental company had secretly added over 1,000 euros of additional charges (despite repeatedly clarifying at the counter that I only wanted the items booked on the Zuzuche platform, plus cross-border travel and an additional driver). I decided to drive over 80 kilometers back to the Budget counter at Frankfurt Airport to argue with them and demand the removal of the extra charges. With Zuzuche's coordination and assistance, we finally managed to cancel the additional items (spent nearly two hours and incurred 30 euros in parking fees, as parking at Frankfurt Airport costs 15 euros per hour—really expensive!).
1. Low efficiency, the queue time was extremely long. It took me over an hour when there were only five or six customers ahead of me;
2. They added over 500 euros in extra charges to the contract without informing me when I picked up the car. Fortunately, I spotted it and refused to pay;
3. The pick-up point is a ten-minute walk from the counter. The car was not filled up with fuel. After a long flight and long queue, I was too exhausted to argue, so I just accepted it;
4. At drop-off, they tried to charge an extra 460 euros. They handed me a 4-inch screen device to sign. I spotted it again and refused;
5. Everything was fine when I returned the car, but they still tried to scam me into buying personal and car insurance. This is just ridiculous;
6. Finally, they directly charged an extra 460 euros from my credit card without any signature or authorization, despite my two refusals. This is outrageous! Currently disputing the charge with the rental company and card issuer.
7. In all my car rental experiences across North America, Latin America, Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia, Budget at Frankfurt Airport is by far the worst!
Due to being in a hurry and not reading the contract carefully, the Budget staff added extra insurance and other hidden charges without verbal confirmation.
Terrible service. Even though I showed the staff my order indicating I had already purchased full insurance, they insisted on adding insurance to the contract. Later, the staff claimed the extra payment was for fuel, but it included insurance, making me pay extra for insurance. Very deceitful.
Since my English is not very good, I repeatedly confirmed during the car rental process to avoid any additional fees. The final charge has not been settled yet, so I’m unsure if there will be extra costs. For this trip, I had to cancel the initial booking at the airport and place a last-minute order with this company because my first reservation wasn’t confirmed properly. Initially, there were some issues due to communication problems on both sides, but they were eventually resolved. Before picking up the car, I confirmed multiple times to avoid extra service charges. However, the rental agreement sent to my email still listed a service fee of over 200 euros. I’ve just returned the car, and I’m still waiting for the final charge confirmation. Once the charge is processed, I’ll revisit this issue. As for the car’s condition, it was excellent.
