Very poor experience. They told me adding an extra driver would cost 13 CAD per day, totaling 117 CAD for nine days. But when returning the car, I was charged 530 CAD. No one informed me about additional fees, and the person helping with the contract did not mention that there are extra charges if the driver is under 25 years old. Overall, a very bad and costly experience.
The counter staff had a tough attitude, pushing us to buy insurance and claiming that the insurance we bought from Zuzuche had no coverage in Canada. We only rented the car for 3 days to drive around Vancouver, so there was no need to pay an additional 81 CAD for insurance. After insisting, we took the car without extra insurance. We traveled from Toronto to Montreal for 14 days, stayed in Montreal for 3 days, and drove from Calgary to Seattle for 12 days, using 4 different car rental companies. This was the worst experience.
They kept pushing insurance, and the car was in poor condition with previous damage. The front license plate was dented, and the engine light came on after driving less than 15 kilometers. Customer service said it needed maintenance and told me not to worry but to bring it back for a replacement. During inspection, they found a small crack on the windshield which I mentioned was there when I got the car, but they still changed the car for me. The second car had a slightly better condition but still had scratches on the front. When I returned it, they noted the scratches and just asked me to sign and leave without mentioning any additional charges. Not very reliable, but it's a budget option.
The experience was terrible. There were constant upselling attempts during the rental process. They refused to give me a car unless I bought additional insurance. Eventually, they only gave me a Camry, the worst option in its class. They also didn't have the models they initially promised. The return process was extremely inefficient, and I still haven't received a return receipt or confirmation email. The accident handling was very slow. After an incident, I had to switch cars in Vancouver, but they said it was a U.S. car and refused to accept it upon return.
Having a bunch of car keys that can't be separated is very inconvenient, especially with multiple drivers. They find ways to charge more, and adding multiple drivers costs over 100 yuan extra per day.
