I rented three 7-seater MPVs for this trip, and the whole process can be described as 'good things come to those who wait.' Throughout the process, we encountered various issues - the originally reserved cars were unavailable, changes to car models, one car's key couldn't lock the door, and another had a leaking tire. If these problems happened domestically, I believe everyone would find them overwhelming, and they are even more troublesome abroad. Thankfully, with the help of WeChat and their Chinese customer service, all these problems were resolved one by one. Overall, I am satisfied.
Additionally, a few reminders: First, taking photos when picking up the car is essential to avoid unnecessary issues. Second, gasoline is very cheap in Malaysia, and many gas stations are self-service. You only need to fill up with 50 MYR at a time, as Langkawi is small and doesn't require much fuel. Third, if you are driving on a secondary road and merging onto a main road, you must give way to the cars on the main, as they drive very fast there. Following our domestic driving habits could lead to accidents. Be careful!
Extremely bad. The reasons are as follows: (1) I clearly rented a Myvi, but they gave me a Viva??? (2) The airport pickup service is very slow. We had to wait at the airport for half an hour for the pickup when we arrived; and again for more than half an hour when returning the car. (3) The staff have a bad attitude. When we complained about their delay, they responded with indifference and dismissiveness. (4) The car was extremely dirty, not only full of dust but also had a strange smell, which made me car sick on the first day. To sum up, this is the worst of the worst. I will never rent a car from this company (big thumb) again when I visit Langkawi.
There were professional staff to greet us right after getting off the plane. After checking the paperwork, the car was handed over immediately. Very convenient.
When I arrived, I did not see anyone holding a sign to pick me up. After calling the store and communicating several times, someone finally came. During the paperwork process, they claimed not to have received the order from Zuzuche. They charged me 675 MYR based on the information on my booking confirmation. About 15 minutes later, they brought the car to the arrivals hall entrance. The service was good overall, but the car had over 130,000 kilometers on it and had a burnt smell. I opened the hood and found the engine surface badly scorched. Fortunately, we didn’t encounter any problems. We drove a little over 300 kilometers. The communication issue between Zuzuche and the local company was quite embarrassing for us. Luckily, their staff spoke Chinese well, so communication wasn’t a problem. Overall, I am satisfied with this car rental experience—no issues, safe and sound. I hope for an even better experience in the future.
There was a staff member to greet us right after landing, we signed the rental agreement and got the car, the entire process took about fifteen minutes.
Before departure, I added them on WeChat to ask questions but never received a single reply. I called three days in advance, and they said everything would be on time, but no one was there when we arrived at the airport. We made numerous calls and waited for over half an hour before finally getting through. From the tone, it was clear they had forgotten. We waited another 20 minutes before someone showed up. They didn't even apologize, just asked for our booking confirmation. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the car, and I had to fill out forms on the roadside. The only good point was the lower deposit, just 100 MYR in cash. The car itself was decent, but it lacked any extras like GPS. Overall, it's nowhere near as good as in Thailand.
No need to enter the store, pick up the car directly at the airport. However, the car was a bit old. The battery also ran out, but a kind local helped us out.
“The most important thing for a trip is your companion. For self-driving, it's not about how luxuriou”
About Big Thumb:8.0/10
We spent the first two days island hopping after arriving in Langkawi, so on the third day we called to arrange a car pickup outside the airport. The service was good; for an extra fee, they could deliver the car to the hotel, which wasn't too expensive. Future renters can judge for themselves. The car was as described online, but after a while, the air conditioner broke down. We contacted them immediately, and they sent someone to fix it when we passed by the airport office. However, it still didn't work after a while, so they replaced the car that night. Overall, the service was good. A reminder for everyone, when renting a car abroad, having a phone is very important.
