The wait time to pick up the car was too long; it took an hour and twenty minutes. The rental company could easily increase staff to handle orders. After spending nearly thirty hours traveling from China to Boston Airport, standing in line for over an hour to get the car was quite an experience, especially with my child waiting alongside me.
They attract customers with low prices, resulting in extremely long queues. You have to wait at least 40 minutes, while other rental companies almost have no queues. Because of the crowd, BUDGET's staff were rude and deceived customers!! I had already chosen insurance and paid in full online. After waiting for a long time, I was in a hurry to pick up the car. However, the counter staff aggressively sold us insurance. We said we didn't need it, but they still made us sign and charge an amount equal to the 5-day rental fee. It's terrible.
The staff attitude is acceptable, and they are quite patient in explaining terms when they notice your English isn't great. Overall, if your English isn't too good, don't worry. Take your time to read through, look up words in the dictionary if you don't understand, and ask more questions. Don't confirm anything you don't fully understand. If the staff tries to upsell, just say: no thanks, I just want what I ordered.
Charged for insurance twice. I already bought insurance when booking on the app, but was asked to buy it again on site. Very expensive and frustrating.
There were a lot of people in line, waited for more than half an hour! The key issue was the irresponsible staff. I booked a 7-day rental from 8 AM to 8 AM for a different drop-off location, but they changed it to return by 12 noon, charging me an extra $30. I didn't notice it at the time. It was only when I contacted the rental service customer support that they discovered it. When I went back to clarify, they used various excuses, saying the location wasn't open in the morning! The drop-off location opens at 8 AM, so I arrived at 7 AM and waited till 8 AM to pick up the car.
The rental service already provides third-party insurance, but they'll tell you it's not included and suggest you buy it. Insist on not buying it.
Make sure to check the charges carefully when picking up the car. If there's any issue, contact customer support.
