I have used Budget for years. After the way I was handled on the phone and at the airport in Boston, I will never use you again. You did not honor the Easyrentcars reservation of 41.00 USD. Instead, you wanted to charge me 265.00 for the day. Ridiculous. Your agent on the phone was totally ineffective. Never again. I rented a car with Dollar for 170 which was stupid as well but much better than the 265.00

Even though I took the maximum on insurance the counter staff person said I was not fully insured and advised I take extra insurance - which I did.
I then hired another car that I also booked via easy car and this was fully insured.
Why the difference - I will see with my next car hire if this follows the Boston hire or the Minneapolis car hire.

As a whole the experience wasn't bad, especially as the car was concerned, but the customer service for me was a total disaster. First, I was charged a second time for a 100% prepaid booking. I had to show them this on return, so they started doing something to correct it - and I'm still not sure whether they did it so that I didn't pay anything additionally. Second, nobody warned me that the moment I get out of the rental location, I will get into a city tunnel that is actually a toll zone. And the toll charges by Budget are anything but budget - it's a complete rip-off. I was charges over $22 for one single toll charge (and my friends living there told me they are paying somewhere between $1 and $2 for the same thing. Other than that - no problems, great car, well, nobody cares about marks and scratches in the USA, they don't even bother marking them on the protocol or checking for them on return, but I am already getting used to this.

When I picked up the car, it was snowing heavily in Boston, and there was no one at the reception area. The attendant was very patient with me. Since I had to return the car early in the morning, the attendant patiently called to check if self-service return was possible. Due to an issue with the insurance on my order, it took a long time, and I ended up changing to an order with insurance. The entire car rental process took nearly half an hour, but the attendant was not annoyed. Considering that I was driving to Richmond, he offered me a larger car and repeatedly reminded me to be careful because of the snowy conditions in Boston. (Indeed, the roads were very slippery that day, and I could only drive at less than 10 km/h. Even slight acceleration made the wheels slip, but the roads were much better the next day.)

When picking up the car, the male staff at Budget counter informed me that they no longer had the Ford Explorer I reserved. They only had a Chevrolet Suburban, a large SUV, available with an upgrade fee of $125 per day. Considering there were six of us with six pieces of luggage, we had no choice but to agree to the upgrade. Renting it for two days including tax came to $599.47, almost $270 more than the originally confirmed amount on Zuzuche.com! I thought the Ford Explorer I initially booked would have been sufficient for us and our luggage, but Budget's failure to keep the model we reserved resulted in significant extra costs. I will not be using Budget again. Compared to a friend's experience at another rental company where they got a free upgrade under similar circumstances and were even given an additional day's rental due to the larger vehicle's higher fuel consumption, Budget's service was disappointing. Additionally, the process to pick up the car at Budget was slow, and there were no staff to accompany me to the vehicle. They just handed me the keys, and I had to find the car in the lot myself. When I had questions there, no staff were present to assist. The entire pickup process took almost 45 minutes.

Renting a car in the US is really convenient. Upon landing, a shuttle bus takes you to the car rental lot. You present your driver's license, international driving permit, and passport, authorize a pre-payment, and they tell you the parking spot. When you find the spot, the car keys are already there waiting for you. Just drive away. Returning the car is even easier. Drive to their parking lot, and an employee uses a device to inspect the car, then provides an invoice. In less than a minute, you're done. We even changed the return location twice during the trip, and they agreed without any hassle. Highly recommended.

They attract customers with low prices, resulting in extremely long queues. You have to wait at least 40 minutes, while other rental companies almost have no queues. Because of the crowd, BUDGET's staff were rude and deceived customers!! I had already chosen insurance and paid in full online. After waiting for a long time, I was in a hurry to pick up the car. However, the counter staff aggressively sold us insurance. We said we didn't need it, but they still made us sign and charge an amount equal to the 5-day rental fee. It's terrible.

There were a lot of people in line, waited for more than half an hour! The key issue was the irresponsible staff. I booked a 7-day rental from 8 AM to 8 AM for a different drop-off location, but they changed it to return by 12 noon, charging me an extra $30. I didn't notice it at the time. It was only when I contacted the rental service customer support that they discovered it. When I went back to clarify, they used various excuses, saying the location wasn't open in the morning! The drop-off location opens at 8 AM, so I arrived at 7 AM and waited till 8 AM to pick up the car.
The rental service already provides third-party insurance, but they'll tell you it's not included and suggest you buy it. Insist on not buying it.
Make sure to check the charges carefully when picking up the car. If there's any issue, contact customer support.

Extremely poor experience. Budget replaced our car with a Kia, which broke down the next day! I had to pay for roadside assistance out of my own pocket! It's ridiculous. The insurance provided by Zuzuche was completely useless because it was from a domestic company and didn't work in the US. Make sure to check the car's condition carefully when choosing. Don't accept cars with high mileage. I will continue to file complaints and welcome any advice from those with similar experiences.
