This company is really bad. We arrived at the airport at 9 o'clock and had clearly booked a Ford Escape, but we were offered a BMW X5. The representative was Chinese and we made it clear we didn’t need an X5. However, they still processed an order for the X5 after completing the booking, which would cost us an extra $600 per day. Luckily, we noticed the error and requested a change, but then they asked if we wanted a GPS. We declined, and by this time, we had already wasted an hour because she told us it would take a long time to modify the order. Then they offered an upgrade to a Ford Edge, which we also didn’t need, and asked if we wanted additional personal insurance, even though we had bought all necessary insurance when booking. By 11:30, two hours had passed. My friend and I realized they wouldn't let us pick up the car unless we bought something extra. We had no choice but to choose personal insurance. The car we ended up with was an old Jeep, not the Ford Escape we originally booked, and it consumed a lot of oil. This was a very unsatisfactory car rental experience, and I will not use Budget again.
Long queue time. The original Ford wasn't available at pickup, so I paid an extra $4 for a Nissan. They also tried to upsell insurance. Due to language barriers, I ended up purchasing an additional $16 insurance policy, although I had already bought one. I never received the insurance document and couldn’t understand much of it.
I picked up a Ford SUV in San Francisco but halfway through, it alerted me that the oil level was low. After checking, the oil was indeed low. Customer service suggested I go to a store to change the car. They replaced it with a Mazda sedan, and after negotiating, I finally got a Mazda SUV, but a low-end version. Very disappointed, and the staff at the store had a bad attitude.
During our trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, we discovered that the brakes were failing at a vehicle inspection station headed towards Los Angeles. We searched for the nearest Budget office and reached the Barstow location at 1581 W Main St after 20 minutes at 4:50 PM. When we got out, we noticed the engine was smoking. The staff reluctantly came to check the car, then went back inside and told us, 'You should go, we close at 5!' They forced us out, clearly seeing we were panicked and helpless. After repeated requests, they agreed to call the nearest office, instructing us to stay put and not move the faulty vehicle, and wait for someone to either replace or tow the car. Then the staff locked up and left, leaving us stranded and helpless as it got darker. By 8 PM, no one had come to assist. We were left waiting on an American street, feeling despair. Thankfully, a friend came to our rescue; otherwise, the consequences could have been dire. Our lives were put at risk by this car!
Extremely dirty, absolutely filthy!!! No cleaning was done at all, I had to clean the car myself with a towel! Furthermore, they didn't give me the Ford Escape I booked. The car rental experience in the USA was awful, with random charges. Even after returning home, I had to chase after them for refunds!
I've rented cars many times in the US, but this place required a Chinese driver's license and a photo record of it, the translation alone wasn't enough. Consequently, I had to go back to the hotel with my luggage to fetch it. Also, the reservation name, driver's name, and credit card must be the same person, which is not required elsewhere. They tried to sell us fuel without even checking our order. I told him we've already bought fuel, but he didn't listen and used a translation app on his phone to tell me that the car must be returned with a full tank. It was quite disrespectful to us. Finally, they insisted on selling us insurance, although I've already bought comprehensive insurance. It took a long time. San Francisco is not very friendly to Chinese people.
I waited in line for over an hour to pick up the car, which is understandable during peak tourist season. When it was my turn, the staff informed me that the only available model was a Hyundai Santa Fe. I didn't want to drive a Korean car and told him so, but he said I had no other choice unless I paid more. The cars he recommended all required an additional $100 per day. I agreed to downgrade to a standard SUV and was okay with a five-seater, but they only had a Kia available (I've clearly stated I don't drive Korean cars!!). In the end, I chose a Cadillac XTS, which cost an extra $25 per day. I had booked a seven-seater SUV but ended up with a five-seater sedan, and I still had to pay more?
