Picking up the car was convenient. Returning the car was self-service; you just leave the key at the designated spot.

It's just a few minutes from the airport to the parking lot, but they charged 90 euros for the shuttle service without mentioning it during the car rental process. I only found out when I asked. A few days after returning home, I found out that over 100 euros had been deducted from my card. After emailing them and not getting a response, I called long distance and they said it was due to the car being dirty. They sent photos showing mud on the floor mats. The key issue is that they didn't inform me that the car needed to be washed before returning.

There were two staff members handling the process after queueing for a number ticket. Compared to bigger car rental companies, it's a bit lacking, but overall it's okay.

Car had a lot of smaller dents and scares. For the rest all well, no additional comments.

Good service when returning the car

The main issue was that the car rental company did not provide the vehicle as per the contract. We were given a pickup truck instead of the car we booked. It was Christmas Eve, so the staff left right after handing over the car. When we realized the mistake and tried to contact them, there was no one around. We had to leave the airport with the pickup truck. After contacting the rental company, we were able to exchange it the next day, wasting our time. Other than that, there were no significant issues.

We waited a bit at the airport for the shuttle to arrive at pick up. Car was in good condition with all defects marked with stickers. It was a Hyundai i10 which took two 24 inch long suitcases in its boot. Fuel consumption was at about 5.7L/100km and it was quite sufficient for winter driving on highways and main roads.

Great people work there. Everything was perfect exept one thing - radio wasn't workin in the car.

Lotus were superb. Very helpful on pick up, couldn't do enough for us. On return, I filled up the car around 50 Kilometers away. When I got back to the airport, I tried to top up the fuel to full, but there was issues at both garages I tried with accepting UK credit cards. Other travels were also having issues, pumps were not manned. So, I returned the car 85 % full. The guy at Lotus said 'don't worry, you tried, there will be no charge'. If this was the USA I would have been charged a full tank. Thanks you Lotus.

I have booked cars multiple times through ZZCar and this is my first time leaving a review for AVIS, an international car rental company: During the Chinese New Year in 2019, I went on a self-driving trip to Iceland and rented a so-called Land Rover Discovery Sport through ZZCar at AVIS. The cost wasn't high, 6000 RMB for 6 days including full insurance, which seemed like a great deal. However, I ended up with a compact SUV that didn't have enough space, severely affecting the travel experience. This is a serious case of deception or consumer misleading, and other customers have reported similar experiences. The most frustrating and tormenting part was when returning the car. AVIS staff noticed a crack in the right rear mudguard and immediately charged 12000 RMB, yes, twelve thousand RMB. Everyone was shocked. How could a simple crack in a mudguard possibly cost 12000 RMB? After a long argument, the AVIS staff maintained a stiff attitude throughout, and I had no choice but to pay upfront. Fortunately, I had the full insurance and managed to claim compensation later, only losing a few hundred RMB due to the exchange rate difference, but it was still a very unpleasant experience.

Fara are a great car hire company. Someone answered the phone straight away. We were picked up in about 10-15 mins. The car was immaculate and the counter staff were very friendly.

The staff did not inform us of any road condition precautions when we picked up the car, and they didn't inspect the car with us. As a result, we didn't realize that the car lacked essential tools like a spare tire and a jack. Later, we got stuck in the snow on a mountain and were trapped for two hours because we didn't have a shovel or other tools. Although we had full insurance, it did not include roadside assistance. When we called for help, they wanted to charge us 650 euros. A kind passerby eventually helped us, and we immediately called the company to cancel the assistance, only 20 minutes after our first call. However, they still insisted on charging us, even though their employee allegedly came for the rescue. We had no way to confirm if they had actually been dispatched. When we returned the car, they said we had to pay a basic rescue fee of 35,000 ISK. When I tried to explain and negotiate, they directly charged my credit card without my consent and forced me to sign, then rushed us to the airport. Their attitude was extremely rude. I spent 9,000 RMB on this car rental and received such poor service. I am extremely disappointed and upset. It was truly a horrible car rental experience.

We called to cancel the roadside assistance within 20 minutes, but they insisted on charging us, claiming the rescuers had already set out. When returning the car, they demanded a basic rescue fee of 35,000 ISK. As I argued with them, they directly charged my credit card without my consent and forced me to sign, then hurried us to the airport. Such terrible service; I spent 9000 yuan on this rental and got awful service in return. It was a very distressing experience and I’m very disappointed.

Overall good, friendly service with a smile. Although I don't speak English, they patiently answered my questions! They briefly recommended insurance, but since I had already purchased it, there was no need to buy it again! No issues, they quickly handed over the contract and car keys.

Their estimate of the remaining fuel in my car was inaccurate. I spent just over 500 RMB to fill the tank, and when I returned the car with more than a third remaining, they charged me $88 for fuel. This is outrageous.

The service is good. I'm not sure how the insurance is at other rental companies. This shop at Iceland airport doesn't have separate gravel insurance. You'll need to buy full insurance.
