The cost of the hire car was 125% greater than the booked amount agreed with full insurance.
This was due to the rental company demanding Euro1900 deposit or Euro 242 for new insurance on top off the insurance booked.
This is a complete SCAM and will be reported to the Portuguese customer complaints bureau.
It was not a good experience overall. I was asked to deposit €2500 because i didn’t want to buy insurance from them.
I have insurance for rent a car from my insurance and from my visa.
Plus we have to wait 30 min to get picked up from airport.
Terrible overall
The rental process is terrible: the waiting time, conditions (no air conditioning and seating area), return process (I had to chase the person receiving the cars). The rental staff treats you like you owe them something, not respectful and ready to provide a service you have paid for.
Besides cleanness, cars technical condition is deplorable: 1st failed on the second day, 2nd had a punctured tire, 3rd had a missing wiper blade (which I discovered on the road - serious safety issue). The 3rd was a smaller size luggage space and we had to travel with a seat blocked by suitcases. I had to pick up the 4th car 70km from my destination and spend 1/2 day on the process. I left a 1/4 tank in the process for which, I have not been reimbursed - I was told to contact Easyrentcars. I will never use Surprice again.
I've got a brand new Nissan Micra from Drive on Holidays. It took some time to pick up the vehicle since th here was line.
However the personnel is quite efficient.

Seul déception: sur le cité de réservation était indiqué retrait et restitution du véhicule à l aéroport (et non navette).Dans les fait : pas de comptoir à l aéroport, mais une navette qui vous amène à 4-5kms prendre possession de votre véhicule. Embêtant pour restitution lorsque vous avez un vol de nuit par exemple, et surtout lorsque l on choisi un retrait et restitution à l aéroport

The wait to pick up the car was extremely long for how few people were in line. It took on average 20-30 minutes for each party to fill out their paperwork and get their car. Surprice was extremely inefficient and slow and understaffed. As a result, we lost 2 hours of precious travel time

I have never received an email receipt from them, even though they promised to send one. They have not refunded the “deposit” and they have charged extra to my credit card. I will now have to fight charges with my credit card. I will not use them (or you) again, I will just go straight to Avis.
The car was mostly fine. I gave it an avg score for cleanliness cos they gave it to us with some awful film smeared all over the windshield, rear window & mirrors, which dangerously reduced visibility. We couldn't see it til we drove out of the garage, in the dark, and it was too hazardous to stop on the roadside to wipe it properly.
The counter staff were super friendly. But my god, did we ever wait a long time for our turn to drop off the car. Never seen anything like that.
Moreover, when we picked up the car, the counter staff didn't say a word about the road toll system in Portugal, which is difficult for tourists to understand due to poor signage. With no reason to expect things to be different here than elsewhere, we hadn't read anything about it and were unprepared. So what happened is the 1st time we arrived at a toll plaza, we got in the "Via Verde" lane. OOPS ! And though we phoned OK Rent-a-car immediately after passing through it, and the person who answered reassured us it was no big deal and we could just pay the normal toll at any post office, that was untrue. Instead, we were charged the max. toll when we exited the motorway - 46,60 euros (!!!) - instead of just having to pay 9 euros. We were super pissed off.
Finally, when we dropped off the car, we asked them to pls bring us back to our hotel, which was literally 10 min. away by car. We figured that was a fair request given the issue caused by them not telling us about the tolls (which they admitted was their mistake). But they refused and would only drop us off at the airport metro station or else the Oriente one. That added another 20 min. to our journey. I've rented cars in many places and they've usually dropped us off anywhere we wanted within reason.

About Centauro:7.3/10
The car available at Centauro was not the one we hired . We had hired a VW Touran 7 seats and the car given to us was a smaller one, Citroen 3008, 5 seats and we paid the same amount. We didnt like this.
Compared to all the rental companies, this one had the best price. After arriving at the airport, you need to call the rental company. A shuttle service will quickly come to take you to the car. The vehicle was in great condition, very new, and had low mileage.

i was satisfied with the car and service. Pick up took to long because the first car that was presented was to small (we are a family of 6) This was resolved and for the rest everything was good.
The checkout process was very slow. The lady at the counter was nice but they were really really slow. When we returned the car, it was like a ZOO. People were lined up for over an hour to wait for the transportation to take them to the airport. We just about missed our flight. Very poor organization of the shuttle to the airport.

About Interrent:10.0/10
I got better car then I expected. Instead of Ford Focus, petrol, I got Kia Sportage 1.6 l diesel. Economical and in very good condition. However, even I returned car with the full tank, today is fourth day that reserved deposit for the fuel is not released . Still waiting.
