I booked an automatic GOLF for about 5500 RMB for 15 days, but the AVIS staff said they didn’t have any GOLF available and only had a Hyundai I20 from Korea for 780 pounds (including 90 pounds for Ireland), which is quite a difference. During the drive, I found the car in good condition, but it clearly lacked power. Later, I had to extend the rental by 2 days and, with the help of the renting service, the extension was set at 108 pounds for 2 days. After returning the car with 4500 kilometers driven over 17 days, we noticed a crack in the left front tire. The inspection staff said it was a minor issue and, since we had full insurance, we wouldn't need to pay extra. However, we were still charged an additional 20 pounds for tire repair, which we questioned since we had full insurance. As we were rushing to catch a flight, we didn't spend more time disputing it. All the staff who assisted us were courteous.

The AVIS pickup point at Manchester train station was terrible. Firstly, they switched my booked automatic car to a manual one. Additionally, they didn't accept the combination of a Chinese driver's license and its AVIS translation document at pickup. After a heated argument with the site manager, I barely managed to get a car, but it was still a manual. Given the circumstances, I had to accept it. The staff promised to check if there were automatic cars available at Edinburgh airport for a switch, but that didn't happen. When we reached the Glasgow AVIS station, we asked if they could check for automatic cars, and luckily, they contacted the Edinburgh airport station and there was a car available for switching. Overall, this rental experience was too troublesome... Upon checking reviews online, it turns out that the AVIS pickup point at Manchester train station is notoriously bad. We were too careless.

As my reservation was for small SUV, when I arrived at Avis dest the reception guy tell me that there were no Small SUV cars in there branch so they going to give me a similar car. Anyway, they have provided me with a Peugeot 308. I thought it is not falling into the Small SUV category and I spent about 5 min arguing with them with no progress in it. Since, I was in hurry, I stopped arguing with them and took the car, which fortunately was enough for our luggage, and hit the road. I have rechecked your website to see weather I was correct when I thought the car was not falling into the same car I was reserved in the first place and I concluded to the fact that the car provided by Avis is to consider as Compact which means not upper level than the small SUV. I don't know why they down graded my car but that is to you know. I look forward to hearing from you.
