The counter is right next to the airport arrival exit. Turn right and you'll see it next to the coffee shop. This place is very popular, so sometimes you might have to wait in line. After finishing the paperwork, it only takes five minutes to walk to the parking lot to get the car. I booked an RAV4 but actually got a Nissan X-Trail, which was almost new with only 5800 kilometers on it. It came with a built-in GPS, which is very convenient given many places in the South Island lack cell phone signal. Renting with basic insurance from QEEQ, I upgraded to full insurance at the EZI counter for 28 NZD a day, with zero deductible. This proved useful, as many roads in New Zealand are gravel and quite a few stones fly around. The second day, a stone kicked up by an oncoming car cracked the windshield in two places. When returning the car, I informed the staff about the damage, they checked the rental record and told me I was free to go without any charges. I will rent from EZI again next time.

The waiting time in line was a bit long, service staff were slow, roughly 1.5 hours. The car pickup was quick once the paperwork was done.

The car was very clean, and they had already put a 'Drive on the Left' label for us. Also, because the Qashqai we reserved was unavailable, they upgraded us to a RAV-4 automatically.
