I arrived at Munich Airport before 6 AM. After exiting customs, I couldn't find the Caro car rental. I called the contact number but no one answered. Eventually, I asked at the information desk and got a phone, which is how I found the person picking me up. Everything else was very satisfactory.
Both the rental and return procedures need to be handled at the MC PARKING lot outside the airport. After my flight landed, I followed the rental car signs for quite a distance before asking other rental companies at their counters and finally learning that I needed to take a shuttle bus. Fortunately, the pick-up location is not far from the airport, and there is a free shuttle. CARO's service, car condition, and prices are all good, the rental and return procedures are quite straightforward, and the staff do not push extra insurance unnecessarily.
Great, the car is very new with just over 10,000 kilometers, and its condition is good. Additionally, the staff were very enthusiastic and had a good attitude.
The service was excellent, with someone specifically waiting at the pickup point. However, the car handover process was a bit lengthy, taking about an hour in total.
They provided a nearly new Mercedes with only a few thousand kilometers on it. The deposit wasn’t as high as mentioned in many guides, only a 800-euro pre-authorization. Both the pick-up and return procedures were very simple, likely because cars are much cheaper in Germany. They didn't even inspect for damages thoroughly during the return.
Very enthusiastic service. They even helped set up the car's navigation system. The car was in excellent condition, having only driven about 3700 kilometers when we picked it up.
The service was great, but when returning the car, the specified spot was Terminal 1, Bus Stop 29, which was nowhere to be found. There were only stops 1-24. I had to ask many people, none of whom knew either. It took over an hour and numerous international calls to finally reach someone. Even the car rental return center at Frankfurt Airport was easier to find. If there is no return location at the airport, it is suggested to choose a more easily accessible location. Returning the car in Stockholm was much easier; there was a fixed location. However, the navigation couldn’t find this spot, and I had to ask many people to find it when picking up the car as well.
Caro might not be a large company, as they do not have a dedicated counter in the Munich airport terminal. Their office is a few minutes away from the terminal, but this does not affect their service quality at all. Staff members were already waiting at the agreed meeting point at the scheduled time. The car was a new one with only 3000 kilometers on it. The paperwork was completed swiftly, and the staff was very thorough and enthusiastic in their explanations. The return process was equally high-quality. The phone customer service was top-notch, with high efficiency in resolving issues. The high-quality and efficient service combined with low rates makes their overall rating higher than big companies like Hertz and Europcar that I have worked with before.
The service is okay, but since there's no counter at Frankfurt Airport, I couldn't get full insurance when picking up the car. Communication was also a bit difficult with the gentleman who delivered the car, and the deposit taken on-site hasn't been returned yet, so it's hard to give a final rating. However, returning the car was smooth; they just checked and said everything was fine and drove off without a thorough inspection.
Waited almost 40 minutes for the pickup at the airport, despite multiple calls. However, overall it's still acceptable, service is good, and the return process was quick, arriving within 5 minutes after contact.
There are no outlets, making it very troublesome and inconvenient to find. The car provided was not the original one reserved, and not even of the same level. This has been the most unreliable experience. I think I will go with Avis or Hertz next time.
After we cleared customs, the CARO staff met us smoothly and arranged a Mercedes E200 for us. The car performed very well. We are very satisfied. Apart from the usual rental fee, an additional 200 Euros was pre-authorized, which they said would be refunded if everything was in order.
Great company and the car was good. The only issue is the lack of transparency in the charges. I rented the car for an additional two days on-site, returning it on April 14. On the 16th, the originally reserved amount was charged. The extra two days were charged through two separate transactions the following month (one for over 600 USD and a refund of over 500 USD). Additionally, there was a 100 EUR prepayment on June 3. I don't understand why. Such arbitrary preauthorization abuse raises concerns about customer protection.
As an international car rental company, their service should be more global. Their only response to customer requests is: NO, which is very frustrating. They lack empathy and understanding. If someone was alone in a foreign country and everyone just said NO to them, how would that person feel?
When we arrived in the morning, we followed the order instructions to wait at the information center of T1 terminal for pickup. We got there around 6:30 AM, but no one was present. We spent quite some time searching for their counter and eventually had to call them, but only reached their voicemail. Around 7:15 AM, we finally got through to them, and they came to pick us up at 7:30 AM. The staff member, who was around 50-60 years old, was very nice and deserves praise. Overall, renting from a big company is better. At T2, there was a counter immediately upon arrival, unlike this time, where it wasted a lot of time and gave new tourists a poor impression.
There was no counter at the airport, we had to wait for the staff in the parking lot. They arrived late, and it took about 20 minutes to complete the paperwork. All charges were deducted from the credit card. We were a group of four with a lot of luggage, so we rented a mid-sized Passat, but they gave us a small Mercedes. The car didn't feel as spacious as the Passat, but considering it was an upgrade, we accepted it.
We rented a small manual Polo from Caro. Overall, the car was in good condition, especially during flat acceleration, though it lacked some power when driving uphill. The service attitude was very good.
