Arrived at the store at 5 AM on the 30th, but I had booked the car for 7 AM. The staff refused to give me the car earlier, so I had to wait in the airport for 2 hours.
Also, there was no promised Chinese-speaking staff, only a Thai staff member who spoke English. They did not guide me to the pick-up point, just told me that it was near the 7-11 outside the airport. I was confused about the exact location and had to ask locals to find it.
After approximately 10 minutes of waiting, the car finally arrived.
This pick-up experience was very disappointing...
The car was a new Nissan, probably Sunny in our country. It had about 7,000 kilometers when we picked it up, with a backup radar and average power. Phuket has many hilly roads and with four people on board, it needed full throttle to reach 40 on slopes. The staff speaks good English and did a very thorough check when picking up the car, but just a quick round during drop-off, which is great service! We only used 3/4 of the fuel tank in 7 days and it cost 760฿ to fill up at Shell. I still recommend driving here; motorcycles are both dangerous and expose you to too much sun.
Returning the car at the same location is very convenient, just at the domestic arrival exit. The car is parked nearby, and the process of handing over and inspecting the car is very quick.
The service was excellent, and the vehicle inspection was thorough. They didn't charge us for being an hour late in returning the car, which felt very convenient for the customers.
The staff at the outdoor counter in Phuket seem uncomfortable due to the heat, unlike Bangkok. But it's convenient that there are counters at both domestic and international arrivals.
The rental location is right next to the arrivals at Phuket Airport. The staff are very helpful and explained every important detail thoroughly. The car was in great condition, and the staff were more meticulous than I was during the inspection. Thumbs up for that! Overall, the car pickup and return processes were very pleasant.
The staff are very patient and meticulous, they record all the old damages on the car during pickup and do the same during return. However, make sure you test the car thoroughly yourself. The wipers on the car I rented weren't working well, which is a concern during Thailand's rainy summer. Fortunately, the rental company noticed the issue with the wipers during return and didn't make a fuss. Also, since Thai people don't speak English very well, it's best to have a real-time Chinese-Thai translation app.
