It's relatively convenient, but the service personnel made a slight oversight: we booked an automatic transmission, but they gave us a manual one. We had to go back to change it after seeing the car.
Rented at 10 AM, returned the car at 8 AM the next day, left the key in the key box because there was no staff early in the morning in the Nordic region. The staff collected the key at 1 PM, charged me for two days.
They charged an extra 70 RMB per day for toll fees and, after driving only thirty kilometers with a full tank, they charged 150 RMB for fuel and 240 RMB for service fees.
We arrived in Stavanger at 11 PM. There was someone at the counter waiting for us, and contrary to an earlier email, we weren't charged an overtime fee. The car pickup procedure was completed very quickly.
This was the worst car rental experience ever. When picking up the car, I was given a confirmation sheet with many scratches not marked. Luckily, I checked it, otherwise I would have been held responsible when returning the car. Upon returning, they claimed there were scratches on the mirror, downward and very tiny, definitely not caused by driving. I didn't have any collisions while driving, yet they demanded compensation. I've never encountered this in North America.
Regarding the E-pass device fee, it was not disclosed in advance, nor was the user's choice sought. Instead, it defaulted to a fee structure that favored the rental company, effectively depriving consumers of their right to choose. How can consumers be expected to read through dense terms in such a short amount of time? The rental company could have easily communicated this issue with the consumer in advance to reach a mutually satisfactory fee arrangement.
The rental car counter at Stavanger Airport is easy to find, and I got the keys in less than 5 minutes. After being told the parking spot, I went to the nearby parking garage and drove off. Very convenient. Returning the car is self-service; just make sure to wash it and fill up the gas. Park in the specified garage and drop the keys in the small iron box at the counter. The trust level between people abroad is very high.
The staff at the branch were not familiar with their duties, they took half an hour to understand my prepaid order and couldn't distinguish between deposit and rental fee. Even the staff couldn't explain it clearly...
