At the Hertz counter in Sydney airport, the staff member tried to take advantage of my poor English by adding full insurance without my consent. Do they think I’m bad with numbers too? I kept refusing, and with the help of a nearby Singaporean Chinese woman who translated for me, I finally understood that even if the incident was someone else's fault, I would still owe $5000 AUD without full insurance. Seriously? Who makes such rules? Do they have such authority? Eventually, they changed it to basic insurance upon my insistence!
The person handing over the car was Indian. If you don't buy the insurance they recommend (100 AUD), they find excuses and give you a car with potential issues. The staff who collected the car were very unprofessional, and seemed like dubious Indians, finding faults with the car.
what's a terrible experience with Hertz. The staff is not helpful and not professional at all. They just left the car which was in poor conditions. We insisted to ask for another car but we had waited over one hour to get the car. During our waiting, I approached Hertz staff to ask for the status but their response was one of bored indifference.
We filled up the gas tank near the airport before returning the car, but were still unfairly charged AUD 35.82 for refueling. This is very unreasonable, and we haven't received a response or refund after lodging a complaint. At pickup, they aggressively pushed insurance with no Chinese service available, making communication very difficult. We didn't get the car model we booked and were forced to take a larger car with an additional charge.
No-one assisted me to check the car over when I picked up the car. There were a few scratches and they just told me to take a picture.
Someone really should walk around the car.
Everything was just perfect. They even gave us a much better car than we ordered which was amazing! Just the drop off location on the airport was bad but it was because of some construction there. And I think I still haven’t received the deposit back but it probably takes time so I hope it will be ok and I would recommend Hertz to anybody in Sydney!!
Hertz has a counter right at the T2 exit. Initially, there was no one there, and we almost got lost. Fortunately, someone arrived after a while. Service was acceptable; people in Sydney generally aren't very enthusiastic, maybe it's just how city folks are. We had to walk around a bit to find the pickup spot; without guidance, it wasn't very convenient.
When returning the car, I had definitely refueled it completely, but I didn't keep the receipt. During the inspection, they insisted that the tank wasn't full. I explained multiple times, and they still said they would refuel it. If it was less than 5 liters, there would be no charge, otherwise they would charge me 29 dollars. Later, I found out they charged me 29 dollars. Also, renting a child safety seat for 3 days costs 80 dollars, which is too expensive. My friend also booked a car with me but forgot his credit card. The rental company refused to rent the car to him and wouldn't refund or cancel the reservation. We decided to rent a car on the spot, but the company quoted us 1000 AUD per day, which is ridiculously high.
