We arrived less than an hour early to pick up the car. At first, they wanted to charge us for an extra day. After a long discussion and contacting the customer service of the rental platform, they finally agreed to let us pick up the car early for free. Additionally, they insisted we buy insurance. I told them I had already bought it back home, but they insisted on purchasing it again. After another lengthy discussion and contacting customer service again, they eventually allowed us not to buy the additional insurance. It was very frustrating!

The order clearly stated that someone would pick us up at the airport and then take us to the rental office. We provided the number of people, flight number, and arrival time in the order. However, when we arrived, nobody was there to pick us up. FARA only showed up more than 15 minutes after I called them. The car they came in was very small, squeezing two children and two adults into the second row. At the FARA office, a Chinese-speaking staff member greeted us and immediately claimed that they had told Zuzuche (the booking agent) that we wanted a new model XC90. Now they had a ‘new car’ which required an extra fee (I had previously learned from Zuzuche that this fee would be 700-900 RMB per day). I opposed this and showed the photo from my order which was of a new XC90. The female employee then gave up, saying it was an issue for Zuzuche to handle. Finally, they took us to an old model XC90, claiming it was the new car. This behavior felt deceitful. If I had agreed to the extra fee, I would still have gotten this 'new' car. Later, the staff admitted they didn't have the new model XC90 at all.

Like: The car was perfect, it got me everywhere I needed for the two weeks, it didn’t come with WiFi, but I managed to get one with their help, I appreciated them telling me to get full insurance coverage and letting me know how badly the cats get beat up in Iceland. It’s so true. Ricks are constantly being throw up by other cars in front of you and hitting your windows and fast moving trucks down south. I like how fast they work to get you in and out of there.
Dislike: The cost of the full insurance was quite high. WiFi or gps should be included in the rental package, but everything ekes was good and fast.

Since we arrived at 11 PM, there were not many people, the process was fast, and we got a bigger car than initially booked, a Ford 9-seater, which we were quite satisfied with. There was no insurance upsell and returning the car was smooth, and it seemed there was no deposit required.

They don't accept Zuzuche's insurance. They said if we don't buy their insurance for 2200 RMB, we need to leave a deposit of over 3000 USD, which wouldn't be refunded if there was a problem. Since our previous car rental already took a substantial deposit, we didn't have enough left for the 3000 USD, and were forced to buy their insurance. They maliciously increased the deposit. I advise everyone not to choose this company in the future.

It is said that FARA is the largest car rental company in the area. We chose it due to limited car options and pricing factors. When picking up the car, a Chinese staff member specifically mentioned the issue of insurance and suggested adding more coverage. However, since we had already purchased the super full coverage at the time of booking, we did not agree. The staff did remind us to check for any damage to the windshield and windows upon pickup. However, since we had to rush to our accommodation at Kirkjufell that night and previous car rental experiences had been smooth, we only took photos of the car's exterior. When returning the car, a different staff member, a foreigner, pretended to look around and then pointed out a small crack on the right side of the front windshield. I am sure no stone chips hit the windshield during our use, so I believe the damage was already there. Unfortunately, due to our oversight during pickup, we didn't have evidence. If the company intends to exploit consumers with damaged cars, it’s hard to avoid. Due to our flight schedule, we had to pay ISK 150,000 in advance for insurance claims. This experience reminded me that for future international car rentals, it’s better to choose a reputable global company.
