I strongly suspect that Loxauto rental company intentionally makes things difficult for Chinese customers or for those who did not purchase full insurance from them. If you don't buy the full insurance, you either have to pay extra to upgrade the car model or wait for a long time. We waited for four hours and had to ask support from Zuzuche multiple times before we finally got the car, which seriously disrupted our itinerary.
Fantastic experience! I was given an upgrade to a brand-new Audi A4 upon arrival. The car was equipped with the latest features, and my 10-day rental was excellent.
The car was in good condition, and there were no issues with the vehicle itself. However, you need to be cautious during pickup and drop-off, or you might end up like me, facing unexpected compensation charges at return. The issue was that when I picked up the car at the train station, the staff simply handed me the keys and said they had already inspected the car. Having prior experience with car rentals, I took a video of the car's exterior myself. But when I returned the car at the airport, the staff claimed there was a new scratch on the front left bumper and refused to accept my video evidence. They gave me a statement form to fill out and submit to the rental company, but they still insisted that I pay €218 for the repair on the spot before allowing me to leave. I had purchased separate car damage insurance back in my home country and didn’t buy the full coverage from Sicily. Arguing with the staff was futile, so I had no choice but to pay and then file for reimbursement with my insurance company back home. Travelers who rely on basic English skills may find it difficult to handle such situations, especially when time is tight for returning flights. While I didn't suffer an actual financial loss, it gave me a deeper understanding of how Italian car rental companies operate. I strongly suggest that when renting a car in European countries, you insist that the staff carefully verify and document all existing scratches during pickup to reduce the chances of being taken advantage of.
Overall, it's pretty good. The main issue is that Italians generally don't speak English well, and the rules are explained in a verbose and confusing manner, without clear communication.
Quite satisfied. They offered insurance on-site because we only paid part of the cost online, so we decided to buy it after calculating the total expenses, which were reasonable. The staff on-site were also very patient in explaining everything to us.
Picked up the car at Rome train station and returned it at Milan train station. There were staff in the parking buildings to assist with the pick-up and return procedures, which was very satisfactory. However, the rental office at Rome train station is quite far from the parking building, making it a bit challenging to find the car after completing the rental formalities.
This was my first time renting a car abroad, and I was very satisfied. The rental process with Locauto was smooth from pickup to return, with compliant procedures and high efficiency. There was absolutely no pressure to buy insurance. Driving through Tuscany was truly enjoyable.
