I had to wait for the 20 minutes so that the employee finishes his private phone call infront of the pickup station. Then the car was SUV Tiguan and I have reserved a sedan Mercedes so didn’t like the options and when asked I was told that this is the only available option
Excellent. I had booked a SEAT ALTEA 5DR/5PSGR automatic, but was given a Ford Focus wagon automatic instead. It was the high-end version and felt very stable on the highway, even at 180 km/h. The luggage space was also good, which was great since I was picking up people from the airport and the large trunk came in handy. The staff's English was good, but I felt a bit embarrassed when the whole staff and some customers laughed at me for insisting on an automatic (most Germans drive manual cars). Both pickup and return were very quick.
The actual rental fee was different from what was listed on the website. When we raised our concerns during the car inspection, the staff didn't respond and said he was only responsible for inspections.
The customer service agent at pick up was extremely rude. I called the service hotline 2 hours prior to arrival to say that our flight was going to be delayed, I was reassured that the my message will be passed on and budget staff would track the flights and stay up to 2 hours after the opening times if needed . We arrived at the counter 2 minutes after they officially closed, luckily bumping into the lady on her way out. She told us that the counter is now closed, no one told her about flight delays (although I added the flight number to the booking) and she can not re-open for us and that it was not her problem. Only after 10 minutes of persuasion she agreed to open the desk again - which took her less than a minute.
When dropping the car off they tried to charge me an additional €80 without explaining why (I had payed the booking already). I refused to pay and it turned out that budget tried to charge me for a deposit for fuel although I returned the car with a full tank. Overall a disappointing experience - I will not book with budget again.
