We were caught driving in a bus lane by a traffic camera, and the road authority emailed GREENMOTION to pay a fine. GREENMOTION tried to charge me double with a late fee, thinking I didn't understand English. After I argued via email, they finally charged me the minimum fine.
I waited in line for almost two and a half hours, and then the process took another two hours. They asked all sorts of personal questions, like my job and home address, which I've never experienced in all my years of renting cars. The efficiency was low, and they even told me to inspect the car by myself. They said if there's an issue, come back to me. It was really frustrating.

Like: Great upgrade, without being asked. Just very friendly, attentive service. Good experience Dislike: In general that UK rental companies make it very expensive to take the car the the continent, which doesn’t apply to EU rentals.
Like: We didn't have to wait in line, either for pickup or drop off. The price of the rental was very reasonable. We were given a free upgrade to a larger yet still fuel efficient vehicle, and the car had GPS, which would have cost us substantially more than the total price of the rental if we had to pay for it. Dislike: Although you can pick up or drop off your car between 06:00 and 22:00 at their Heathrow Airport location, you can only call them (or any other Green Motion office) between 09:00 and 17:00. Also, we had to pay 9 pounds each for my wife and me to ride the Hoppa Bus from Heathrow to Green Motion and back again. While the car rental broker company, EasyRent, said that we would not be reimbursed for this fee, the supplier, Green Motion, said that we would, and we have not yet resolved this issue.
This is a fraudulent company that extorts money. When returning the car, they nitpicked to find damage that was not visible at all and insisted there was damage. Do not choose this company! They charge a deposit of over £1200 when renting, and then shamelessly deduct over £600 upon return. Other renters returning cars simultaneously were also charged. But because they were rushing for flights and were abroad, they all endured it. Fellow countrymen, do not rent from this company, they specifically target Chinese people. Scammers!
We had to wait at least an hour to pick up the car. When returning it, two employees tried to tell me the wheel rim was scratched, but it absolutely was not!
As soon as I parked the car and notified them, the two employees immediately went to the front left wheel with their phones, completely ignoring the rest of the car! When I refused to sign, they took the phone and talked in a corner.
Who checks for scratched wheel rims when renting a car? The car was perfectly fine throughout the rental period.
With many years of car rental experience, this was the worst incident ever, definitely a premeditated scam!
In the end, as I needed to catch the Eurostar, I asked them to call the police. They did not and just left!

Like: Cheap Dislike: Pick up process really slow. And as I was in a rush, I didn't really pay attention to the fuel gauge but I'm pretty sure it wasn't full as there was no way it took over 1/4 of a tank for me to drive to Cambridge and back.. approx 70 miles.
We booked a Mercedes Vito but were given a Fiat. Later, we upgraded to an automatic Volkswagen Transporter for 7 people. The rental company demanded an exorbitant upgrade fee of 2000 pounds (an extra 190 pounds per day!) which was even more expensive than other companies' rental fees for a 9-seater automatic at the same time! However, since we had already paid for the manual car, we had to upgrade with them... The vehicle already had several scratches, but they weren't all recorded on the inspection sheet. When returning the car, the company charged us an additional 450 pounds for a minor scratch on the roof. It feels like this company exploits customers to claim insurance. Will never use this company again!

The wait was very long for the car. The MAJOR problem I have is the cost of hiring car seats. WHY WHY are they so expensive when it is children's safety at risk. I was not allowed to rent them for 24 hours (why not?) while I went to the nearest supermarket to buy booster seats for £5 each. Instead they were going to charge me something like £9 per day per child. A total cost which was DOUBLE the cost of the car. I think it is DISGUSTING. Plus the booster seats they gave me were grubby, old and tatty. Pathetic and greedy.
Basically they advertise a price for a certain car, which you reserve online, you get there on a shuttle bus from Heathrow after a flight with all your luggage so you are trapped.. You wait for ages as many disgruntled passengers are querying with two staff members, you then have your turn. Basically the car you thought you were renting is not available, they offer a substandard car or another at a much much higher price... You then have to take out insurance at about 28 pounds per day, you also have to pay extra for more mileage. If you don't take higher premium you get stuck with shit crappy car for a family of 5 as no others... If you take expensive insurance out magically a car that can accomodate the five of you appears... Total farce, the guys behind the counter sound like robots, just churning out the same sentences to everyone, not one person in that car rental office left with a smile on their face. Every customer left feeling fleeced and pissed of!!! AVOID at all costs............
