When I picked up the car in San Francisco, $122 was charged to my credit card without my explicit consent. I thought it was a deposit, but when I raised the issue while returning the car in Los Angeles, I was told to solve it in San Francisco. This made me very angry.
Initially given a Nissan with minor lighting issues, replaced with a Ford Explorer, which was in excellent condition. Automated process at San Francisco airport, very convenient.
The Jeep I rented was unavailable, so they gave me a GMC instead. It was larger and more comfortable to drive, and the return process was very convenient.
There was a bit of a line when picking up the car at San Francisco Airport, waited for about ten minutes. The car was in good condition with a decent selection of models. Returning the car near Los Angeles Airport was very convenient and quick, just checked the engine start and general condition, took only three minutes. Overall, this car rental company is pretty good.
Neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, because it was all self-service. Used a machine to pick up the car, and a driver just brought the car over without much interaction.
There were additional self-paid items that were not informed in advance. The counter staff said it was mandatory by California law. Originally, the car rental cost was over 200 yuan per day, but we ended up spending an extra 100 yuan per day.
The attendant at the San Francisco airport car rental counter had a poor attitude. After declining to upgrade the car model and purchase fuel and insurance, he barely looked at us properly. Since we arrived at night, there were few vehicle options, and the available cars were relatively old models.
The rental and return process was very quick, and the staff even said not to worry about small scratches when returning the car. They were so generous. Renting a car in the US is incredibly convenient.
The clerk forcibly insisted that we buy third-party insurance, claiming it was required by California law. I checked online and found no such law. The Asian clerk began to stall and refuse to complete the transaction. I mentioned that I had rented a car from this Alamo location five days ago with no such requirement, and the clerk became hesitant but still did not verify the law with a manager or provide us with any documentation. The whole incident was very unpleasant. I hope that in the future, Zuzuche improves their system to inform renters in advance about necessary insurance requirements at the rental location, preventing forced sales.
Picking up and returning the car was very convenient, but unfortunately, the rental centers in San Francisco and Las Vegas are too far away, making it very inconvenient with lots of luggage when getting off the plane.
