The car model we booked was not available at all. When we showed the contract to the staff, they didn't care and said that the model in the contract was unavailable. We had to either accept the available model or not rent at all. Since it was midnight, could we really not rent? We ended up reluctantly accepting a smaller model. The trunk could only fit three suitcases, and we had to place another suitcase on the back seat, making the back seat extremely cramped. The journey was very uncomfortable!
Extremely poor experience. First, I had already purchased full insurance, but the store's customer service still tried to charge me nearly 200 euros for additional insurance. After a very difficult conversation, they finally agreed not to charge me. Second, I had booked a Mercedes E-Class automatic for 4 days, but when the customer service provided me with an Audi, I thought, 'As long as it works, it's fine.' I moved my luggage into the car, only to find out it was a manual transmission, which I can't drive. So, I communicated with the customer service again, and they gave us a Mercedes C-Class. We had four people and four pieces of luggage, and the car couldn't fit all the luggage. It was impossible for us to sit comfortably. Third, when returning the car, I used half a tank of fuel, but the customer service charged me 80 euros, which is outrageous. Since I was in a hurry and had no time to refuel, I had no choice but to get ripped off by the Italians.
Average. The worst part was providing a different model than what we booked, which didn't feel worth the price. The car even had a tire pressure warning halfway through, costing us €15 for a check. Both pickup and drop-off were done personally at the store.
Although there were not many people, the wait time for picking up the car was quite long. No free upgrades were available; upgrading required extra payment. None of the listed services were provided.
“Except for the unpleasant pickup experience, everything else was very satisfactory”
About AVIS:2.0/10
Initially, it was agreed to return the car with a full tank. However, upon arrival, they required an empty tank and charged 67 euros for fuel. The staff was inefficient and kept chatting, taking an hour to complete a single process.
AVIS and Budget share the same counter. There were quite a few people picking up cars at Rome airport, and I waited for almost an hour. The car was in good condition, and returning it was even easier. Since the fuel was used up, the return desk just took the keys and signed off, and we were good to go. Very convenient.

About AVIS:4.0/10
The staff at the Rome airport counter spoke very poor English, hardly understandable. They kept pushing for full insurance, and seemed very displeased when we declined. They gave us a subpar car despite our large luggage. At the parking lot counter, they kept stalling and refusing to change the car, only offering a FIAT500 convertible, which was a struggle to fit our luggage into. I was quite dissatisfied with the service attitude of the Rome airport staff, but to avoid affecting our itinerary, I didn't argue further.
Spent an hour finding the place, asked several people for directions. They gave a wrong address even though it's within Rome's train station. Didn't provide the reserved Mercedes GLA, got a Renault with numerous scratches instead. Price was double the agreed amount. The staff didn't take responsibility, simply asked me to sign. I found multiple scratches and dents and had to insist they were noted on the paperwork.
The AVIS service staff had a very poor attitude. They wouldn't answer any of our questions and kept telling us to figure it out ourselves. When we asked why they charged us $650, the response was vague, just saying it was according to the order. The entire time, they had an indifferent expression. We had no choice but to pay the extra money. Moreover, we booked an SUV but received a sedan, making it impossible to fit our luggage and leaving us cramped.
