Avis did not inspect the car condition before pass to me.
The engine oil level is low.
the car keep warning me while I driving.
I call the help center and they told me since I am returning the car in another 1 days, so ask me to continue driving until return the car.
I booked the car for the weekend, but the foreign staff was off duty. One employee made a special trip to come, unfortunately, he was late. While waiting, you start to question your life choices, feeling fooled. No calls to inform or contact options. Sigh!
Terrible, terrible, terrible! First, the car pick-up location was changed without any notification from the rental company, making us wander in the cold for half an hour. The new location was very hard to find! We almost missed our car because of this! Second, the car given to us had a wet interior with many water stains on the floor, and it didn't match the model we booked. The trunk was too small to fit our three 28-inch suitcases, causing us a lot of trouble every day trying to rearrange them! Third, we had an early ferry at 7 AM on the last day from Lofoten to Bodo, and needed to rush to catch our flight after returning the car. To be safe, we filled up the tank at a nearby station the day before and didn't drive anywhere else. It took just five minutes to reach the ferry terminal from the hotel and about seven to eight minutes to get to the car return point from the ferry in Bodo. When we returned the car, we confirmed the fuel gauge still showed full. Yet, we were charged a ridiculous fee for not returning the car with a full tank… 1199 for a supposedly incomplete fill-up? That’s outrageous! What a lousy rental experience! Terrible!
I did ask AVIS about Deposit Amount, because it was important for me. I was hardly find any contact and waste a lot of time to this. All contacts, except of facebook, generate answers by robots, such as "you question is very important for us". The operator at facebook answer was "sorry, your question is out of my competence".
On another side, manager on pick-up was competence and gentle enough.
Pros: Quick pick-up process. Cons: Too self-service, a bit confusing. They gave us a Peugeot 208. For drop-off, you just hand in the key and they don't inspect the car immediately, saying they will check it later in the evening and notify you of any issues. But what if something happens in between? How can we appeal? When calling customer service, they tersely told us to follow the process, take photos of the entire car, windows, and undercarriage. How am I supposed to photograph the undercarriage properly? There can be blind spots and reflections when taking photos, making it impossible to cover everything. In this regard, both Avis and the rental platform are lacking.
