CAR RENTAL REVIEWS ON BUDGET IN AUCKLAND

The cars are very new; I got one that had been out for just over ten days. I'm quite satisfied with the car. However, the store's upselling services are a trap. Don't choose the option to let them refuel the car.

The service attitude during car pickup was not very good. Even though we had bought the super full insurance, they still tried to push an additional daily insurance costing tens of NZD. Fortunately, we had been warned by the rental platform not to be misled. The staff member was very unhappy and grudgingly gave us a fake SUV, a Toyota Estima! We almost couldn't fit all our luggage, and after managing to squeeze everything in, we were very uncomfortable.

Terrible service! The African American woman at the counter was extremely rude and indifferent towards customers. She made us find and inspect the car ourselves in the parking garage and tried to sell us insurance, taking advantage of our limited English skills. Can you imagine a daily insurance fee of 35 NZD with a 225 NZD excess?

Great! Picked up the car in Auckland downtown. Although it's a bit far from the Sky Tower, it's still manageable to walk over.

Picked up the car at Auckland International Airport. The car had just over 50,000 kilometers on it, a diesel Toyota Prado, which I drove all the way to Wellington. There are two ferry companies for crossing to the South Island, we chose Bluebridge Ferry, whose departure point is near the train station in the city center, which made returning the car inconvenient. The return point was at the other ferry company, so we had to unload our luggage first and then return the car. There was no staff at the return location, so we just dropped the key in the key box. After the ferry ride, we picked up the second car, another Prado, at the Picton pickup point. This one was newer, with only 10,000 kilometers on it. The diesel Prado was really great. We drove for a total of 19 days without any issues. Finally, we returned the car at Christchurch Airport, where the office was staffed. They just checked if the fuel was full, and that was it.

It was so easy to pickup the car at Budget, being that the location was in terminal. This was key being that we arrived after 8:30pm, and was so convenient ! Everything went really well.

It was a flawless booking! Very easy, and the car was just perfect.

Our flight was canceled at the last minute, delayed car pickup by nine hours. The rental cost almost doubled without any prior notice. They said it was a deposit when we returned the car, but we haven't received any refund so far. Fake company. Prepayment is a disaster...

The booking process was easy, just wasn’t aware the car was at budget was looking for easy rent cars at airport, but when I call d the phone number they directed us to budget , then it was quick . The car was very clean fuel efficient just was a little smaller than expected more for small luggage . The drop off experience was excellent, I would definitely go with them again.

Simple process

We couldn't get any help when returning the car. It made us very frustrated, and the charges were not transparent.

The car was shown on the handover sheet as having no damage. When I get to it the number plate is bent at 90 degrees one side and bent a bit at the other, ther is a large scrape on the splitter at the front, and other scratches on the car. The man on the desk did note them and said it would be fine and nothing was mentioned or has come up since the hand over.

Everything was just perfect. But we have asked the counter staff at the time of pick up to take the cash instead of deducting the amount from credit card, the lady said your cash will be accepted at time of dropping the vehicle, and no deduction will be made from card. But when we went to Budget office on the date of return, it was closed and they said they will deduct the amount from card. So, when we have mentioned at the time of booking that we will return the vehicle in the evening around 9PM-10PM, you should make a note of it to at least attend your customers at the given dropping time to either collect the money or to inspect the vehicle. How can you make your customers false promises to accept cash at the end and just deducting it from the card at the time of return?? I found it very awkward and disrespectful.

Staff in Auckland is very good But the one in Picton is not as friendly as the one in Auckland. And also, the car we pick-up in Auckland is good, but the conditions of the Picton one could be better.

It's okay, but having to wait until the scheduled pickup time was a bit hard to understand.

The originally booked seven-seater Toyota was not available, and I was given a nine-seater Hyundai van instead... Not cool. Moreover, I only found out at the last moment after signing all the documents. They didn’t inform me that the car I booked wasn’t available, just made me sign the papers.

Couldn't find the pickup location at all. The store had moved, but the website wasn't updated in time. On a rainy morning, I ventured out just to be informed by a neighboring store that it had relocated. I had to take a cab in the rain, costing $25 to finally find the store. The only response from the staff was a sorry.
