The system automatically gives Europcar 10/10 based on the answers I gave to the questions about Europcar. However I would like to say that for overall rating, I think Europcar deserves a 7.5 out of 10 and that was because they upgraded me from an intermediate (I had booked a Toyota Corolla) to a SUV, a Holden Equinox, and charged me for the upgrade. When I asked the staff on duty, they said they did not charge for the upgrade. However when I received the invoice the extra that I paid was listed as upgrade of car.
I feel that this is not very ethical of Europcar. They should give me the same class of car that I booked or if they are unable to, to give me an upgrade with no extra charge.
I have no complain regarding the car itself. My issue is the ethics of Europcar rental policy.

Rented the car from Melbourne airport. Even though it was close to mid night both the staff members at the main counter were very helpful. They were quick in providing the rental cars. Got KIA CERATO in a clean condition. Also requested for a baby seat which the staff already arranged for in-advance. Document check and other formalities were quickly completed.
During return the staff was available at the Drop-off zone. They confirmed the full fuel indicator and also took a photo as confirmation. Gave enough time to take out stuff from the car. Overall it was a very nice experience, unlike to few reviews which i read previously. Great going guys, will rent again from Europcar when needed.

The pick up process was disgusting. 45 minutes in line after having booked is a disgrace and meant we had to cancel booked activities in Melbourne City. Why I had to stand in line while people who had not booked ummed and ahhed over choices or had to have every said twice due to language barriers is beyond me. Why I had to write on scrap pieces of paper which were then scanned or give details that I had entered under my booking was also staggering. My past rental experiences at all other large airports in Australia have taken 10 to 15 minutes. It was unbelievable. I happened to see the manager in the car park and asked her how this could be, she suggested I join the loyalty programme, nothing about how they can sort the issue inside that was going on. When I suggested having a separate desk for people who had not booked she said this had been tried and did not work as they got served faster thasn those who had booked in the end. How the hell does that happen. There were 5 staff working, if you make just 1 line for those who have not booked then it must become faster for the people who have booked with four people serving them. If there is no one in the non-booked line then that person can also serve a booked person. Where is the reward for booking ahead. This was a monumental clusterfuck that affected the whole day for a group of visitors who had one day to spend in Melbourne. One of the group had to cancel seeing his sister for lunch who he had not seen in 5 years as we had other booked activities to get to. I would not be writing this if this was the way it is in Australia but past experience means I know it isn't and something was wrong with this company office.
Further we did not get a Nissan X Trail as requested, we have had the X Trail twice before, and I am aware how that is never guaranteed the Subaru Forrester was nothing on the X Trail.
A real disappointment and will not be using Europcar again.

Ended up in a different car. I have always used my debit card as I do not own a credit card but was told at pick up that is not allowed with this booking as I hired a premium car. This information should have been passed on at time of booking. I then ended up with A choice of 2 cars since everything else was booked out. A camry or Renault, I asked what was a Renault and was told its a nice sedan. I paid for that and was given a Renault koleos, a big SUV not a sedan.

We had the best experience with Europcar at Melbourne Airport! The lady behind the counter was lovely and we were pleasantly surprised when we walked out into the car park area and discovered that she had upgraded us! The car was practically brand new, having only done 3000kms!
When returning the vehicle, again, customer service was excellent and it was totally hassle free.
We could not speak more highly about our experience with Europcar and will definitely be recommending Europcar to everyone!

Poor communication to customer
I requested for a Mercedes Benz and on nowhere on my booking confirmation that it states clearly that I must have a credit card. I was denied the car of my choice as I don’t have a credit card. They did not accept my debit card. The manager at Europ car classified your website as “dodgy website”.
There was no mention of a specific amount of deposit, I was asked to pay $500 before they can release a car of my choice even though I’ve been denied my preferred car- Mercedes’
I was given a car called GM, which took more time for me to understand it’s logistics and I have a child with me

Because we were a group of five, considering the number of people and luggage, we rented a Toyota Kluger. The seats were spacious, and the trunk was large. When we arrived at the EUROPCAR near Melbourne airport, the staff told us that the previous renter had not returned the car yet and suggested we rent from Budget, claiming it would be $100 AUD cheaper. When we arrived at Budget, it was indeed $100 AUD cheaper in rental fee, but EUROPCAR included comprehensive insurance. Adding the same insurance coverage at Budget cost an additional $49 AUD per day, making the insurance from our previous contract not applicable there. After more than an hour of communication, we returned to EUROPCAR and explained the situation to the staff. The staff then communicated with Budget again and offered us an upgrade to full insurance for an additional $40 AUD, to which we agreed. However, when we finally picked up the vehicle, it was a Jeep, which was very narrow. Three women in the back seat felt cramped, and the trunk was small. With three 20-inch suitcases and two 24-inch suitcases, it was completely full. Backpacks and other items had to be placed under the seats, making the already cramped space even more crowded...

Very bad experience. When returning the car at Melbourne Airport, we were in a hurry to catch a flight and were unfamiliar with how to get into the Europcar garage. We went to the Europcar return office to ask for directions, but the staff ignored us and refused to help. They seemed to take pleasure in our distress, knowing we were about to miss our flight. They refused to give us directions to the parking spot nearby and insisted we drive to the designated location. Luckily, we found other helpful people at the airport; otherwise, we would've missed our flight. Due to the rush, my friend's mom twisted her ankle while moving luggage, which caused significant discomfort during our trip. We are extremely dissatisfied with the staff's indifferent and gloating attitude.

After returning the car, I handed it over to the staff without any issues. Once I returned to my country, I found out that nearly 10,000 RMB had been deducted from my account. They claimed I didn't refuel the car, and that I had used one car for 11 days when I only rented it for 4 days. I contacted customer service and provided my flight ticket and refueling receipt, which led to a refund of just over 400 RMB for the fuel. When I inquired further, they said it was all insurance charges. How could insurance for a 4-day rental cover 11 days? Additionally, when they deducted the amount from my credit card, a transaction fee was already taken. Even after the refund, I'm still out on the transaction fees, and there's over 9,000 RMB unaccounted for. Is there any chance I would rent from you again?

I booked a child seat through the rental company, but when I arrived at Melbourne Airport, the rental counter said I hadn't reserved it in advance and they didn't have any available on the spot. They told me I had to find a child seat myself before my 2-year-old son could get in the car! I made countless phone calls and searched all over the airport and nearby areas, but couldn't find any child seat rentals or sales. Talking to the rental company's representative over the phone didn't help either. Eventually, the rental company told me to come back the next morning to pick up the car, maybe they would have a child seat, but only 50% chance, and they couldn't guarantee it. Fortunately, the rental company called me later in the evening to inform me that a child seat was available.

The car rental company is right at the parking lot opposite Terminal 3 of Melbourne Airport. Picking up and dropping off the car is very convenient, and the staff are quite friendly. When they learned that we had a child with us, they provided a car seat for free. When returning the car, make sure to mark the parking lot entrance on the map early. Once you drive into the parking lot, the return point is immediately there. The employee just walked around the car once to complete the check, which was very quick.

I never had any issues before, so I only checked the car body before renting and overlooked the rims. When returning the car, they claimed there were scratches on the rims that I caused. It was obvious that the marks were old damage, as even the tires had no scratches. Trusting them turned out to be a trap. The same thing happened again. The rental checklist only showed four damages, but upon inspection, I found damages on the rims and glass.

I placed an order on Zuzuche on September 23, and paid 688 RMB in full with my credit card. On October 8, Europcar charged 660.39 RMB to my credit card. I was charged twice for the rental. Overcharged me.
At the rental counter, they swiped my card twice, once for 100 AUD and once for a smaller amount. They said they would refund the 100 AUD but it was never returned.
