CARS: Located centrally approximately 50m from the Budget office. RETURNS: Take the returns lane (right hand lane) from Arrival Drive. Return location is the 2nd turn on the right, after the boom gate entry AFTER HOURS RETURNS: Available. Drop box is on the side of the Avis Preferred office, located in the domestic car park.

Like: Efficient staff, car in great condition and the holiday was made very pleasant with a car driving in Melbourne and surrounding areas.
Dislike: Wrong billing? I made a reservation for a Toyota Rav 4 for the period between 26 to 29 Aug 18. The reference number was 63103417 and confirmation number was 38357487SGD. The quote was AUD 303.72. I made a payment of AUD 60 as a deposit, and the amount due at pick up at the airport was AUD 243.72. At the airport, I was asked if I wanted an upgrade to a Toyota Kleuger which came with a GPS at approximately AUD 60. I agreed, and the final bill came up to be AUD 359.39 and I was charged this amount on my credit card. Shouldn't I be paying AUD 299.39, having considered that I already paid AUD 60 as a deposit? The bill number issued by Budget upon return of car was 317692550 and the reservation number was 38357487-SG-OH.

I’m very disappointed about the woman that was attending at the counter (14/10/2022-23:00aprox Melbourne airport). When she knew that we are Colombians she started to talk about cocaine and the good quality of Colombian cocaine. For me and my brother, it is a terrible disrespect and it is even almost a racist and discriminatory comment, in her position as a client attendant, she has to be respectful of all people and cultures instead as she did following a bad stigma about a country to frame us as bad people. in Colombia, we are more the good people than the bad ones and drugs are not anymore the main thing in a country full of culture and good people. On the other hand, she had a bad attitude attending us, with a poor explanation about the process. for example, she charge me $100 but she wasn’t clear for what reason I had to pay that. (I suppose it is a bond that will be returned to my account) because when I did the booking I paid for everything. (At this time, I don’t know anything about this $100 and I would like to know when will be my money returned? ) It is a shame just an only one person with a very bad attitude destroys the whole experience and good name of a company. Forgetting the bad experience at the counter all was good and the car was great. That’s why we have a bittersweet taste about the experience renting a car in budget.

The location of this branch is easy to find, just a one-minute walk from the airport exit. The staff were friendly and recommended upgrading the car and insurance. We requested to use UnionPay but the charge was still in the local currency. They pushed for insurance, which is more expensive there, but it can be less hassle in case of an incident. The car was relatively new and in good condition. Inexplicably, an additional amount of about ten Australian dollars was charged to my credit card three days later. Well, this was an experience that almost ruined the entire Spring Festival. Things went smoothly in Sydney, where I easily picked up the car with just my driver's license without needing a translation. However, here the counter required a translated copy. I had personally translated and printed it, but the clerk said it wasn't acceptable—it needed to be done by a certified translation company. Overall service was good, and the staff were very friendly. I originally chose an X-Trail but got a Ford KUGA instead (same price). The car was very new, with less than 7000 km. The return process was quick. After parking the car in the rental company's lot, the staff checked if the fuel tank was full and briefly inspected the car's exterior. Everything was fine But a few days later, I noticed a charge of AUD 31.75 for fuel on my credit card. I had refueled the car at the BP station next to the airport right before returning it, within an hour. Not sure what the reason was, but I don't want to pursue it further.

I specifically chose a rental company with Chinese language support because, although I can handle basic English communications like ordering food or booking hotels, renting a car involves signing a full English contract with lots of details and technical terms I may not understand. A fully Chinese service process is crucial for avoiding misunderstandings. However, both pickup and dropoff services were in English.
