We were charged an extra £200 for some rebooking fee because we arrived two hours late to pick up the car. Our friends, who were also two hours late but booked with a different company, didn't have to pay this fee. This rental company doesn't care about customers' interests, and their service is very average and impersonal. I've never encountered such problems renting cars in the USA and Spain. It's so unfair! What would have happened if we didn't pick up the car that day? This kind of unfair clause from the rental company is just uncomfortable and not good service. In the future, I'll book directly with the rental company instead!
The store was busy with many customers when picking up the car. The queue moved quickly, and the process was smooth without any upsell of extra insurance. The Insignia was upgraded to a Passat, which was very new. Everything went smoothly throughout the trip. The staff checked the car thoroughly when returning it at a different location and found no issues. The paperwork was signed quickly. Good experience overall!
The service attitude at the store was quite good. Although there was a small issue with credit card fees, it was waived after communication with the rental company. I compared the rental costs with a friend who rented from another company, and mine was significantly cheaper. During the rental process, a Chinese guy who rented a Mercedes also told me that the cars at this store were cheaper and in good condition. He even suggested I get a membership card, as he did.
There was a double charge issue. I had already paid in full on the rental website, but was charged an additional £250 rental fee and £252 deposit for damages when picking up the car. I told them I had already paid to the rental company, and they said it was a deposit. My understanding was that the deposit would be refunded upon returning the car. I contacted the rental company, and customer service assured me it was a pre-authorization and I should just pick up the car. Upon return, the damage deposit was refunded, but the £250 rental fee was not. The car company said the rental company would refund me. I called the rental company to report the issue, and the customer service mentioned they would handle it after the New Year holiday. Needing to catch a flight, I returned the car and left. Now 10 days have passed, and the car company is still verifying the issue. It seems the process in the UK is quite slow.
1. Constantly pushing insurance sales.
2. Gave the car with no fuel, only 1/6 left, but sneakily wrote 1/4 on the form.
3. When returning the car, they noticed I had no insurance and deliberately made two new scratches, forcing me to pay £388. I checked the car an hour before returning it and found no issues. During the inspection, the staff didn't inspect the car with me. There was no one to reason with when the problem occurred.
4. This company feels very unprofessional. Though the prices are cheap, they profit by upselling and tricking customers. Another customer at the car pick-up was scammed out of over £500 for scratches because they didn’t buy insurance.
They knew we had bought all the insurances back home but still pushed their local insurance on us! We said we already paid the deposit, but they claimed they didn't see it. In the end, we had to buy their so-called full insurance out of fear, even though we had already paid over a thousand as a deposit on the car rental website! Terrible!! Garbage!!
Very bad experience. Despite having prepaid the full rental fee, they rented out my reserved Mercedes to someone else because I arrived later than planned. They made me pay over 200 pounds more for a Volkswagen instead. Our group of six arrived late at night and had to continue our journey, so we had to accept it. Thankfully, with the assistance of the rental platform after returning to China, it took a month of negotiations with the UK car rental company to recover our loss.
The car rental company's service was quite good, but the vehicle was not the one we reserved online. We booked a Peugeot 5008, but when we arrived, they informed us that it was no longer available. We had to accept a Citroën C4 Picasso. After accommodating 7 people, the trunk space became very limited, so we ended up driving in relatively cramped conditions for the entire 13-day trip.
