They require you to buy insurance, and you can't pick up the car without it. Furthermore, if there are any issues, they make it difficult to dispute. I showed two credit cards, and they deliberately chose the one that had been active for less than a year. When I complained to the car rental platform, MEX Rental Company ignored my complaint citing a credit card discrepancy. So, if you choose MEX Rental Company, you need both courage and luck!

el coche demaciado sucio en sus interiores y de regulares condiciones mecanicamente. no lo acepte y dure mas de 2 horas para que me dieran otro. la persona del mostrador no ayudo mucho, al contrario, se molestaba porque no aceptamos su vehiculo

Al presentarme al mostrador la señorita en turno me mostraba desconfianza al autorizarme la unidad aun cuando ya tenia todo pagado. me indico que no tenia seguro completo y para agilizar el tramite de la unidad accedí a comprarle un seguro por 7600 pesos que en realidad no ocupaba por que ya había contratado cobertura total. 1000 por que decía que podía entregar el carro sin gasolina, cuando el contrato dice claramente que se debe entregar con gasolina y limpio. tuve que acceder por que en realidad por las fechas no tenia otra opción. Otros clientes se fueron por que era el mismo proceder quieren vender mas de lo que uno ya había contratado lo cual me pareció algo incomodo.

Excelente en su forma de contratación sin embargo frente al mostrador es otra cosa. todo bien vía telefónica.

I liked the service and booking platform

Got made to buy insurance that was twice as expensive as the car rental. They claim it’s because we booked through a third party and get bad rates. Extremely inefficient car pick up and drop off process - the person whole checks you in then takes you to the car before coming back and doing the next customer. Waited 90 minutes. Also had to wait for someone to inspect the car when dropping off - took around 45 minutes.

Won’t be booking through this company again as insurance isn’t included and isn’t an option, so we ended up spending the same amount on insurance (or in this case almost twice as much) as we did on car hire through QEEQ. Absolutely ripped off and ruined the whole process. Over $600 AUD to hire a Suzuki hatchback for 4 days is not good value

We’ve rented in Cancun many times over the years (we own homes in Mexico). Avis is one of the best agencies to deal with as you often walk away from others feeling you have been taken advantage of.

Mixed feelings. On the positive side, the car was in good condition, return was smooth, and when an insured accident happened, they processed the paperwork and provided a replacement car of the same model with no issues. On the negative side: the airport shuttle bus comes every 20 minutes, we waited 40 minutes for our car, and it wasn't ready even though we arrived an hour later than our scheduled pick-up time. We had to ask twice before they could locate the car. Other than that, everything else was alright and the prices were reasonable.

The Mexican staff member at MAS Car Rental was terrible. She made things difficult just because I'm Asian. First, the shuttle bus stop was hard to find; remember to look for the sign above with 03 after you exit. This might have been my own mistake, so future customers should take note. Then, from the time I showed my booking confirmation to when I finally got the car, she created all possible difficulties. She tried to make me buy full insurance even though I already had it. She wanted proof of third-party liability insurance, which I found out from the rental company's customer service was something they should provide and I don’t need to buy. She claimed my documents were only in Chinese and not in Spanish (which was a lie), so I had to send her the confirmation email on the spot. She said she wouldn't accept my credit card because it was opened in January, and they only accept cards open for more than a year (customer service confirmed this was a lie too). She then took at least 20 minutes to read my bilingual booking and wouldn't let me talk to customer service (thinking I was recording her). Finally, only after I got really angry did she complete the credit card process. Can you imagine it took 1.2 hours? I've driven in over ten countries and didn't expect the worst service to be in Mexico. Future customers should be aware. PS: No problems with police and driving around the Yucatán Peninsula was very easy.

The car was very old, but this has its advantage as new scratches weren't noticeable.
