The car was old - had done over 160,000 kms - and not in good condition.

We had to call and walk to a car pick up location, but we were treated very well and the van we rented was a great price and amount of space for an adult family to travel together.

We'd have liked more clear understanding that we were booking through a third party...

Car was in great condition. Nice to drive, 360 deg visibility, seats were comfortable, air conditioning was excellent, cruise control was easy to use. Brakes might need some attention though, they were a bit juddery.

Little bit of confusion trying to change the booking, but it got sorted in the end once I reached the right person. Other than that, the process worked a treat :)

I made two car rental reservations with mode during my visit to New Zealand. One was at Queenstown from 4/19 to 4/27 and the other was at Auckland from 4/27 to 4/30. I am not sure what’s mode’s standard SOP to check return car. When we picked up the car on 4/19 at Queenstown, we were told that as long as we return the car at 8:30am, they will send shuttle to take us to the airport immediately. We arrived at 8:20 but could only wait till customer service rep to open the door at 8:30 sharp. He took more than 20 photos of the car, then drive the car to the parking lot (when I thought he was doing a test drive.) Then he returned to the front door where we waited, said he would ask his colleague to take us to the airport. We waited a few more minutes, just to find him chatting with the guy at back door…. We almost missed the deadline to check in luggage if our flight to Auckland was not delayed. I must say the experience was extremely awful! On the other hand, when we returned the car at Auckland, the Service Rep didn’t take any single photo of the car!

Car was exactly what we needed at a great price. Customer service was excellent. Would definitely use again and recommend them to anyone.

Overall, the process felt very slow. I called right after landing, and after half an hour, no one came to pick me up. I ended up taking a taxi to the store myself. This was my third car rental in New Zealand, and this company had the slowest service. Make sure to read reviews on Zuzuche carefully.

The lady on pickup was unhelpful, and looked like she didn’t want to be there. The man on drop off was super lovely. But we wouldn’t use them ever again.

Didn’t tell me there would be a $3000 bond until AFTER the booking was made. So I couldn’t cancel and get money to rebook somewhere else in short notice. Price of car hire with insurance ended up being twice as much as expected, and we were left with no other option but to continue with the booking upon arrival.

Excellent rental price provided

Very disappointed about all the hidden costs. Extra costs to reduce the amount held as bond on your credit card. Extra costs to sort tolls. Extra costs for after hours drop off. Will never use this discounted car hire again because of this. Will go with a reputable company based at the airport that has an all inclusive price.

The car had damage when we picked it up, and they tried to say we caused it when we returned it. Luckily, we had photos as proof.

We were able to change to a similar car that wasn’t electric for the same price. The customer service agent was kind in reassuring me the insurance policy remained the same
