The most disappointing part is that the car didn’t match the model booked, and they refused to replace it. They didn’t offer any alternative solutions and just assigned us this car directly.
The Alamo at Milan Airport is subcontracted to the local rental company Locauto. The vehicle was in great condition, and there was no pressure to buy additional insurance. However! At the counter, they initially asked if I wanted to add prepaid fuel. After asking about the price and policy and finding out there's no refund for unused fuel, I declined the prepaid fuel option and confirmed with the staff that I would return the car with a full tank. I didn’t add any extra services. But! The staff secretly added a €115 fuel charge to the contract. At the time of return, they assured me that the €500 deposit would be fully refunded and didn’t mention any additional charges! After the deduction appeared on my account, I contacted the branch. The staff admitted it was a mistake made at Milan Airport. They provided us with the rental contract and proof of the full-tank return and also marked it in the system, instructing us to request a refund via customer service. Then, I emailed customer service politely with all the evidence, but they refused to acknowledge it! They insisted that we purchased the prepaid fuel service. The situation is very clear—if they could admit their mistake and issue the refund, we could move on. But with this kind of attitude from customer service, it's obvious they're trying to scam us, so we’re prepared to fight this to the end.
“Overall very satisfactory, minus couple things I mentioned above”
About Alamo:9.0/10
I was charged by Alamo for roadside assistance service still, after I clearly stated I did not want the service. Only two days later I noticed extra charge on my credit card. So far I filed request for refund but have not heard back yet
About QEEQ:8.0/10
Our initial booking was canceled without giving the reason. It would be good to have the reason why, when receiving cancelation email, instead of just sorry we had to cancel your reservation
At drop off the worker found a tiny scratch on the PLASTIC hubcap. It was hard to even see and now Alamo is going to charge me 140 euro. Will never use Alamo again.
Not bad. Upon arrival at Malpensa T1, there is a centralized car rental counter area. Alamo doesn’t have its own separate counter, sharing a storefront with a few other brands. Look for Lucamotive. Now, you take a ticket from the self-service machine at the entrance and wait for your number to be called. The process is pretty standard: once completed, they will give you a car pickup slip. Walk to the parking lot to get the car—there are two sections, so make sure to ask for directions. I booked a Skoda Octavia wagon but got a Seat Cupra instead. It's a sporty car with high-end features. On Italian highways, remember to use the “Carte” lane to pay tolls directly with a credit card. Since my departure flight was at Bergamo Airport, the address provided was completely wrong—it leads you to the terminal departure area. Unload your luggage first. Then self-drive to the correct location. Eventually, I found the return point at the airport's P3 Car Return area. Each rental company has its designated section there. Look for Lucamotive again. The staff handled the return quickly—just signed and you’re done. At the far end of the return parking lot, there's a free shuttle bus that runs roughly every 10 minutes. It takes around 10 minutes to get to the terminal.
When picking up the car, they replaced it with another Volkswagen gasoline model without any pressure to upsell insurance. Returning the car was also smooth, and there were no claims of damage or additional charges afterward.
The car had some damage to the inside of the trunk, and it was t documented before we left. (It was in the lining of the trunk that covered the spare tire). And they are trying to charge us an extra €290 for damages. We didn’t do this so fighting with Alamo’s customer service is proving to be difficult. Make sure to check everything inside and out. They’ll try and get you.
