I’ve want to make a compaint about the services of Goldcar from Barahas AirPort Madrid .
When I’ve arrived today morning to pick up the car they said that I have to pay for the car the following taxes:65 euro insurence or 2000 euro depozit although I’ve paid full insurence on the kayak site, 35 euro fuel tax, 118 euro fuel depozit.
The employees of GoldCar acted very unprofessionel with me, they didn’t help me to get in touch with you to resolve the situation, they said they I have to search for your phone number myself, and I didn’t find out, they said I can’t understand.
All these made me to give up their services and book a hotel room, because I have a flight in next 24 hours.

They suggested an additional insurance above the one provided by easy rent, so that it would cover roadside tyre repair, which I did want to have. However €95 later, when I tried to use the cover it turned out that it did not include it at all, and the insurance they provided was no better than the one I already had.
I then had to drive on the spaces aver spare for 2 hours to the nearest office to change the car, which was for a smaller car than I had booked and was a very uncomfortable 5 hour drive back home.
I also had to pay for the petrol to get to their office to change the car for another.
Absolutely would not recommend.
This company is a scam. The rental cost over 400 euros and included basic insurance. However, at the counter, I was told there was a 2000 euro deposit and a 180 euro fee for transactions. They then tried to sell me full insurance, saying it would waive the fee and be cheaper than 180 euros. I needed the car urgently, so I had to spend another 1700 RMB on insurance and got totally ripped off! Currently, I'm in the process of filing a complaint.
We had an unpleasant experience with Goldcar. After we returned the car they changed (faked) the final contract and charged us extra for KM which we didn't drive.
My reservation was for a petrol car. After giving me the pickup slip, they chased me to the garage to take it back and changed it before handing it back to me. I realized it was an electric car after driving for over 200 kilometers. When I asked in English at the store whether the car was petrol or diesel, the staff acted like they didn't understand, even after I asked several times. I then realized why they pretended not to understand. It's not just about attitude; I could understand their bad attitude after I refused to buy their insurance, but pretending not to understand 'petrol,' 'diesel,' and then changing the car was just dishonest.

You are the worst rental car company in Europe, people at the counter are mean and disrespectful. Prices are competitive but I prefer to pay more and being treated as a human being. I would like to know if you would like to be treated the same way, if the answer is no, then act accordingly and train your people or fire them.
Very unpleasent checkin to collect the car. The person at the counter tried to agressively sell their own insurance. When I mentioned that I already purchesed EasyRentCars Super Insurance, he started to warn me that:
- AXA won't cover any damages.
- Road Assistance was not possible because no one except their insurance company would be allowed to touch that car, even in case of accident.
- I had to pay 2.180 Euro upfront as a franchise aginst possible damages. When I said that I wouldn't have to pay, that it was just a deposit, he said that ok, but it'd be retained for 1 month until release.
When I complained about all that misleading information, he said that I was "making a bad start", that any damage would have a charge of minimum 800€, and in case of 2 damages, they would keep the whole deposit of over 2.000€.
Of course I didn't buy his kind "warnings", handed my credit card, and left for the car.
My surprise came when I found the car, completely new and really well kept... only that it was not my car.
I rented a 9 seater car, and there were 2 identical units, blue colored Fiat Talento.
But mine was in a poor condition, with damages on the four sides, one of them really considerable. I attach the picture here.
I cannot help thinking that he gave me the worst possible unit because I didn't buy their insurance.
And now the good part: The staff at the parking were really helpful to report the damages prior I drove the vehicle. And at drop-off, the lady who checked the car was really nice and helpful.
It was a pity that the staff at the checkin counter was so rude and ruined what, in the end, could have been a nice experience.
By the way, kudos to FIAT for a nice performing van.

Happy with you, guys, everything ran smooth.
Only issue was the insurance conflict with Goldcar staff. It makes one to think twice whether to buy insurance from ERC; they are so aggressive that I think I am better off purchasing their insurance and avoid problems.
The lady in the Service Counter was courteous and helpful and offered me some insurance plan to amend my deposit obligation. The only thing I felt confused is that I got charged for the Airport Fee when on my reservation with Easyrentcars said it was already paid.
I had already paid the airport pick-up fee, but even after the rental company's customer service and the airport staff communicated, they still claimed they couldn't see it in the system and charged me a high airport pick-up fee again. They told me that C-marked cars couldn't enter the city center and that if a camera caught me, I would have to pay a hefty fine. They suggested I switch to an Echo-marked car for an additional cost; however, in reality, C-marked cars can enter the designated core areas of the city as long as the car is parked in an underground garage and a photo of the parking ticket is kept for reference. This is completely different from what the rental company staff said. They also threatened that the insurance I bought through the rental platform was useless and that they wouldn't help if anything happened, exaggerating to intimidate me. This was the worst rental car company and staff I encountered in Spain. In the end, I insisted on choosing directly through the rental platform, and the staff looked very displeased and did not give me the car model I booked; they only provided a Peugeot 308 and would not respond to my questions anymore.
When I got to the counter, the young man who attended to me told me that what I had acquired was a franchise, that I had to put in an insurance. The one I had hired was not serving and if i had the amount they were going to hold me for 28 days.With a 3-year-old at 12 o't at night, I was cornered and had to buy the insurance. I was between the sword and the wall.
For return the car one day later, i confused the date.. they changed me 425€ for un day while I rent all the week for 1€. I know it is my fault but should be reasonable price in proportion with the rental price. They should be a table to know how much they will charge or what if they charged 5000€ or whatever they like. So take care this how they get their benefits
