FRANKFURT CAR RENTAL REVIEWS

Counter staff was very chatty and friendly. Upon return of the car, we were offered chocolates and were asked how we found the service. Wow!

We rented a Volkswagen station wagon but were given a Golf, which is much smaller.

It was okay, but I had to buy additional insurance on arrival.

I reserved a Mercedes E-Class, but when I arrived in Frankfurt, they gave me a Jeep Wrangler! After refusing it, they replaced it with an XC90. At the time, I thought it was an XC60 and didn't pay much attention. Only when I got the car did I realize, and ended up spending over 200 euros in three days! Hertz in Europe is honestly mediocre. A few days ago in Switzerland, I used Europcar, and it was much better.

They switched to a smaller car, which is highly irresponsible!

So I booked a mid size convertible only for them to try to give me a Nissan. When I swiped them the paperwork that it says Ford Focus Cabrio or similar I explained a non-Cabrio is not similar. So they spoke to the manager and came back with the only Cabrio keys they had. A Benz. I was satisfied to say the least.

There weren't many people in the queue in the morning. The staff lady was very considerate and gave me an XC90 (I had originally booked a GLE).

Average experience, nothing special to mention

Both pickup and return were very fast, the vehicle was new and comfortable to drive.

Due to flight issues, I didn't arrive on time and the reserved car was no longer available. I had to switch to a compact model or pay extra.

They usually don't give you the car you reserved, and it's always more expensive.

Generally a good experience, the only comment is the drop off requires a bit of waiting (I think it was a case that the customer before me needed a long enquiry)

Extra insurance was offered, but I had my own and that was accepted without question. The man at returns was very helpful.

The queue time was quite long, but everything else was good

They did not have the car despite me being there on time. The inspection was a fraud, attempting to attribute issues that weren’t real or within normal course of wear/tear of rental cars. No wonder they have a 1-star rating!

Booked a Mercedes, got a Ford

Very good, right inside the airport. The queue was a bit long and the efficiency was a bit low, but overall it's very impressive.

Firstly, the vehicle categorization is unreasonable. I rented a compact car but was given a Jeep. They told me it falls under the same category as a compact car. Driving a Jeep on the German highway is slow and fuel-inefficient, with a consumption of 17 liters per 100 kilometers, and I had to stay in the slow lane with trucks! Also, I was driving alone and didn't need such a large vehicle, which was also difficult to park in the city! Additionally, Thrifty provided a Hertz car. After picking it up in Frankfurt and driving to my company in a smaller city, I couldn't exchange it at a local Hertz office. After a week of inconvenience, I had to drive over 100 kilometers back to Frankfurt to switch the car! Lastly, there was a price difference between the rental company and the price on Zuzuche, which is completely unacceptable to me!

I cannot get a hold of anybody at the Alamo Rental Desk at Fraport! Money was taken from my bank account for a "late return" of the rental car, even though it was returned on time, but since there was nobody there we had to drop the key in the "key drop". I will continue trying to call cause I need that money back. Thanks Jannick
