“Terrible service at pick-up location, worst car rental experience so far in the last 10 years”

I'm copying my review on google to warn customers to stay away from Interrent:
I highly recommend trying a different car rental service. Terrible experience picking up the car. Nearly 1 hour wait with only 3 customers in front of us before reaching the counter was just the beginning. The processing of our reservation was extremely slow and the personel (although friendly) were quite incompetent. My credit card did not work with their machine and they made me feel very bad about it, suggesting that maybe I didn't have enough funds for the >1200 euro deposit. We tried as well my partners card and again it didn't work. In the end, it worked perfectly on a different machine (which we suggested trying). We almost payed for an additional 90 euro deposit insurance because their credit card machine was not functioning. They did not appologize, only smiled and said we were lucky to avoid paying for the insurance. When we left I saw they made no move to remove the credit card machine and suspect they push customers into buying into this additional 90 euro insurance when their card "doesn't work".
We booked and expected a Peugeot 308 Wagon but were given a Citroen sedan which was not really suitable - we were told it was the only car left available and we didn't have a choice except to pay more and upgrade if we wanted a different car. Would not change the car at a later date without charging us to pay out the existing contract and then start a new contract which was way too expensive.
The staff was very professional and patient. We purchased additional insurance locally at a fair price with no rip-offs. They provided us with a brand new car with over 2000 kilometers on it, very satisfied!
We already bought insurance from Zuzuche, but when we picked up the car at the French branch, they tried to sell us additional insurance. We didn't sign any contract, yet 10 minutes after picking up the car, they charged us over 250 euros. This company is a scam. Don't use Budget's cars in the future. Also, be aware of the store clerk named Simon; he's the one who tricked us.
Personne au comptoir. Plus de trois clients attendaient. Puis le personnel de Hertz que nous avons interrogé après 20 mn d'attente , nous a dit que c'était la même maison . Une honte
I had to wait for the confirmation and the delay announced was at least 3 days and I booked my car about 5 days before. So I was a bit unsecure if my request is canceled,I won't be able to find an other good price.
Temps d'attente au guichet .Etat déplorable du véhicule ( nombreux chocs carrosserie ,pneus usés ,pas de liquide dans lave glace ,voiture pas clean etc)
Pas d'explications claires sur assurance complémentaire dont le coût parait élevé par rapport à AXA.

Réservation fluide . Par contre l'assurance AXA prise par votre site n'est pas évidente par rapport à l'assurance d'Interrent proposée au comptoir qui parait très chère.
Difficile de joindre votre service client car secure code illisible tentatives) Manque un numéro pour joindre AXA en cas de problème(
Booked for a Peugeot 308 or similar car, got upgraded to Jeep Renegade with built-in GPS and much more space. Excellent service for the pickup process. Hassle-free return. Highly recommended!
I got my car too late, uncleaned and with plenty off damages. When I complained I was told that I was too late and that my car was given to other customers. When I called to extend my stay, I was promised a call back which I never got. So far I’m still missing my security payment of 250 Euros which I’m afraid they will try to keep as the car purportedly had new damages upon return and a missing luggage cover. By far one of my worst rental experiences and I travel a lot! Please fix this and make sure I get my deposit back.

About Hertz:6.7/10
Hertz were the worst rental experience I have ever had. They were terribly unorganised, rude, slow and had no idea how to handle the amount of people waiting for a car. We had no one check the car with us and many scratches and dents on the car. I will avoid hertz from now on!!!

As always a great booking platform, easy to use and great filters and options!
Took about 20 minutes to collect, but that's about normal. Staff pleasant, didn't try and hard sell and the car we were given was brand new.
Drop off was easy and seamless.
Overall fantastic.
