Four years later, still worth reviewing. Actually got a Hyundai Tucson, a pretty good car with enough space. Drove it for 6000 kilometers. In Yellowstone, a bison even bumped it creating a dent. The Black uncle who inspected the car didn't even bat an eye.
Picking up and dropping off the car was very convenient and quick, and there weren't too many people. However, after returning the car, a charge was made to my credit card. After checking with the bank, I found out it might be for using toll highways. But there was no information or notification about this charge, it just appeared out of nowhere. They should inform us about the reason, provide the detailed bill, and then give us a receipt or invoice!
Alamo were absolutely awful.
We arrived and went to sort the car, we were asked to choice the car, I asked if we just picked any, to which the man said yeah.
We just choose the one he had up, it was the size we needed.
He said I needed a car seat which I had to pay for. He went over the cost of the seat and that was it.
A day later I checked my online banking to see £1200 had gone out of my account. When I looked on the paperwork, we had been charged £1200 for the car. I couldn't understand why as I had paid for the car.
When I looked into it more, we had been charged an upgrade charge and taxes. The car we had was an upgrade. He never at any point said its was upgrade or chargeable. We went back and they changed the car for one we had paid for. The lady we spoke to said she was sorry, but didn't seem surprised.
I think it was awful that we could be offered a car and not told you will pay £1200 more. What A con.
We also didn't need the car seat as all the children were old enough, that did get removed from the costs.
I'm so disappointed that they could do what they did. If I hadn't have gone back we would have been charged all the money.
They pushed a certain insurance during the sales process, which we only realized when settling the bill. After some coordination with the car rental service, part of the insurance fee was refunded.
I have to say I was very disappointd with Alamo.
1. We had no choice of vehicle, there was two their both in the same luxury category but was only allowed one of the two without an explanation.
2. The car was not even clean and to make matters worse either the people who hired the car before us or the rental staff had been smoking dope. It was that bad that on the second day we had had enough and paid for the car to get a interior detail. So disappointed.
The only benefit was the car did drive and ride fantastic and would gladly get another Lincoln.
