The company’s staff are very warm and patient. They provided shuttle service to and from the airport, gave us maps and some sightseeing suggestions. The vehicle was very spacious, an 8-seater. We had 6 adults and one baby, with a baby seat in the middle and two adults sitting on either side, it wasn’t crowded at all. The trunk was huge, fitting 3 large suitcases and 2 small ones. The car was in great condition, with only about 70,000 kilometers on it, practically new. Everyone in the family was very satisfied.
Very good. We didn't buy insurance, and the staff just took a quick look at the car when we returned it. We were worried there would be a strict inspection without insurance, but it was totally unnecessary to worry. Picking up and returning the car was very convenient, even though it's not inside the airport, there are shuttles, and it's close to the airport. Very convenient.
The service at this Melbourne branch is poor, maybe because all the staff are women. They don't explain basic vehicle operations, unlike Brisbane. Since it was not a familiar car model, I didn't know whether it had a handbrake or footbrake, and how to open the fuel cap (which was confusing). The most irritating part was that when I returned to retrieve something I forgot just half an hour after returning the car, it was already gone, and they pretended to help me look for it. They had a group of Southeast Asian-looking workers.
Many people choose HERTZ, but we opted for the cheapest option regardless of the company. Although we were a bit worried about the service or car quality, we went with it due to budget concerns. In fact, East Coast Rentals' service was excellent. The only slight inconvenience was that it’s not at the airport, requiring a company shuttle to pick up the car. As soon as we arrived at the lot, we saw a fleet of spotless white cars, all very new. There were no hidden requirements; they simply asked if we wanted to purchase insurance without pushing it. The paperwork was done quickly and we drove off. After returning the car, we even received a text message about the rental details. Great value for money!
The rental office is not inside the airport, but the shuttle service was prompt, arriving within 10 minutes after a call. However, since we were new to Melbourne, it took us some time to find the pickup point. The car was very new, with just over 6000 kilometers on it, and it was very easy to drive. On our way back to the airport, other renters informed us that we needed to register on the local traffic website to pay toll fees, but the rental company did not provide this information when we picked up or returned the car. We had to resolve it ourselves and risked fines if it wasn’t addressed in time. The rental company didn’t assist with this, which was very inconvenient for foreigners. We called them again for confirmation and support but received no callback. After returning to our home country, we managed to resolve it through the rental company.
Very convenient. If your English isn't good, just wait at the dedicated shuttle stop for a bit, hop on the rental company's shuttle when you see it and show the driver your booking. That's usually enough to handle things. Once at the counter, just give your booking, necessary documents, ID, and credit card to the staff.
The staff was quite friendly and didn't push too many promotions. Both the rental and return processes were simple, the car was in good condition, and the price was really cheap. Overall, very satisfied with this rental!
The staff weren't very friendly, unlike those we met on the Gold Coast (also with East Coast Rentals). They persistently tried to upsell insurance despite us telling them multiple times that we had already purchased supplementary coverage.
This is the second time I've rented a car from them. The price is cheap, very cost-effective, and the service is excellent. The rental and return process was quick and smooth. I'll definitely rent from them again next time!
The car pickup location is far from Perth Airport, but they provide shuttle service. However, there are no signs at the waiting area of the airport, making it difficult to know where to wait for the shuttle. Other European guests also had complaints.
