Christchurch: When you are ready to pick up the car, please call our service hotline at 0800 660 600 (within New Zealand) or +64 9600 6660 (international). We strongly recommend adding our customer service WeChat ID: arentalsnz. We provide free airport shuttle service during business hours: Monday to Sunday, 08:30-18:00. Free shuttle service hours: Monday to Sunday, 08:30-17:30. If you arrive at the pick-up point outside of the free shuttle service hours, which is from 18:31 to 8:29 the next day, a surcharge of 65 New Zealand dollars will be applied. (This surcharge includes the pick-up service). Terminal: After collecting your luggage, contacting the customer service, and informing the number of companions, proceed to the shuttle waiting area outside Gate 2. The store is approximately a 5-minute drive from the airport. Important notes: If you have a non-English driver's license, you must provide a valid English translation document from a translation agency recognized by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA). Depending on your insurance type, we will pre-authorize a deposit of 100 to 1000 New Zealand dollars on the main driver's credit card (Visa or Mastercard only). The car was not what I booked, they tried to sell it as an upgrade. Received significant downgrade. The staff not speaking English as their first language made it difficult for them to understand. Very good car experience, good condition,I booked a gasoline Alphard, and the store gave me a free upgrade to the hybrid Alphard. It’s really great！ the car is very new! The interior of the car is so clean it’s unbelievable! Friendly service staff, very enthusiastic and professional. Mobile phone charging cables and mobile phone holders are prepared for us. The procedure for picking up and returning the car is very simple. It is recommended to purchase comprehensive insurance so you don’t have to worry about scratches while driving along the way. You don't have to worry about finding the rental location at all. This service is much better than what we experienced at Herz in North Island. During our two-day trip, we found six charging stations, but only two of them worked; the rest were either out of order or required a local SIM card for payment. I made a total of three car reservations: one at Auckland Airport and two at Christchurch Airport. The latter were driven by Mr. Ma and myself as the primary drivers. The car driven by Mr. Ma seemed to be in better condition and was noticeably more fuel-efficient for the same trip. Other driving experiences with that car were also very satisfying. Since this was our first self-driving trip abroad, and we were a group of retirees traveling together, there were numerous concerns. For example: worries about having too much luggage and insufficient trunk space; being unfamiliar with right-hand drive and left-side traffic rules; older drivers with slower reaction times needing to take turns driving; multiple phones and navigation devices needing charging; and whether the phone holder would be convenient to use. Thankfully, all these concerns were addressed without any issues, ensuring the safety and smoothness of the trip. This was highly appreciated by all of us. Moreover, the process of picking up and returning the car was swift and simple, which was especially helpful for catching flights after returning the car. Moving forward, whether traveling domestically or abroad, renting a car will always be our top choice.
