Towards any New Zealand islands, taking rental cars crossing islands is allowed with certain conditions.

Multi-island travel is still possible by making two separate bookings for the whole journey, one for each island. Single bookings that include rentals on both islands is no longer possible. STARTING ON ONE ISLAND, ENDING ON THE OTHER： Make your booking from where you plan to begin and end your journey. Please provide the details of when you plan to cross between the islands in the comments section of your booking including ferry date and time, without this information we are unable to guarantee a vehicle will be available for you. Book your ferry crossing early and check your rental agreement, if your cross-over date has changed call rental company 5 days before your ferry. If we are not advised of changes, we cannot guarantee a vehicle will be available. Vehicles must be returned to the original rental Island and we will charge a relocation fee of up to $1000 NZD + GST if this does not occur. The rental process remains the same if your rental involves travelling on both islands but starting and ending on the same. Please note you will be liable for the ferry cross over costs.

The service was acceptable, but they gave me a hatchback. The booking showed a sedan, likely a Corolla. The hatchback had less power, so the air conditioning didn't work well. Driving on the mountainous roads in New Zealand's South Island was unstable with the small car. I wouldn’t have booked it if I had known it was a hatchback.

I completed the procedures at the airport counter and picked up the car from the parking lot myself. I chose this company for its reputation. The only downside was the lack of Chinese service, and communicating in our limited English made us feel uneasy. We informed them that we had bought full insurance through the rental platform, and they didn't insist on anything further. Thankfully, everything went smoothly. The car was in great condition and practically new. We were given a Mazda CX5 of the same class instead. Although they said the tank was full at pickup, it just showed 530 kilometers, and when we returned the car, we filled up to over 600 kilometers, so we felt slightly cheated. The return process was smooth; we simply handed the keys to a gentleman in the airport parking lot, and he just took a quick look—no need to go to the counter. I couldn't believe it was that easy. Just remember to mark the car location on GPS after picking up, as you have to return it to the same place, and the stress of finding it when in a hurry to catch a flight can be frustrating. Right-hand drive wasn't as difficult as imagined. It's advisable to review the traffic rules multiple times before going. We had navigation guiding us and another person keeping an eye on the rules, which was very helpful. There were no extra charges for adding an additional driver. Overall, the driving experience was excellent. Pre-booking a car through the rental platform was also a good decision. My friends are eager to rent again through this service for our next trip.

It's right inside the airport, very convenient. I booked and paid online, and the counter processed the paperwork quickly. Set the address beforehand, otherwise it might be hard to find when returning the car. The car wasn't new, but it performed well; all functions were working fine. Any damage was clearly marked, so check the slip carefully. The deposit didn't come with a receipt. They said it would be refunded to the credit card after returning the car, but it hasn't been refunded yet. The deposit was 200 New Zealand dollars.

Renting a car through QEEQ is cheaper compared to other websites. Herts vehicles are a bit expensive, but the condition of the cars is good. The iroad navigation system borrowed for free from QEEQ is terrible, constantly needing to reset after parking and useless at critical moments. I always had to resort to using Google Maps on my phone. Having paid the shipping fee for this device feels like a waste. If there had been a rental fee for this navigation system, it would have been a complete regret. This is by far the worst navigation system I've ever used.

The reservation pickup time was 3:30 PM. I arrived at the counter at 3:00 PM and was told to wait until the exact time to process the rental. Returning at 3:20 PM, they finally began the paperwork but insisted I buy insurance, claiming my booking did not include it. After repeatedly stating my reservation included full insurance, they eventually acknowledged this but still delayed the process, claiming there were no cars available and I had to wait another 20 minutes. Finally, at 3:45 PM, they agreed to give me a car, but refused to adjust the pickup time to 3:45 PM. Consequently, my return time was also impacted, shortening it by nearly half an hour. The staff assured me it wouldn’t matter if I returned the car a few minutes late, but the overall experience was extremely unpleasant! HERTZ has the highest prices among rental companies, and I chose them for their brand reputation, only to be met with poor service. The RAV4 I received wasn’t a new model and had over 60,000 km on it, with average condition.

I rented a Highlander. However, after picking up the car, I found that both the front and rear cigarette lighters were not working, so I couldn't use the GPS. I had to return to Hertz and they said they were out of Highlanders and offered me a car called Captiva instead. After driving for about twelve or thirteen days, I went to the Hertz office in Dunedin to switch back to a Highlander because my car needed maintenance. Again, they told me there were no Highlanders available but said they could lower my rental price because the car I was driving was a lower-tier model than the Highlander. Well, they only mentioned this now. At the end of my trip, when I returned the car in the local office at around 5:00 PM and specifically requested an adjustment in the rental price, the staff said the manager had already left and I would have to wait until the next day for a response. But I was flying out that night. I waited for two or three more days without any reply, so I emailed Hertz's customer service. After several days, they responded, saying they could only reduce the price by 100 NZD including tax, even though the price difference on their website for the same season was 285 NZD. After many email exchanges, they finally said there's no further adjustment that could be made. This is Hertz's service for you. I thought choosing Hertz would mean better service, but clearly not. The staff at the pickup location was dishonest.

The pickup location is at the airport exit, which is very convenient. The process is simple, and the car is in good condition, having only driven about 40,000 kilometers. Returning the car is straightforward: just park it in the parking lot and hand the keys to the front desk. Providing customers with the roadside assistance number from the rental company would be even more convenient.

The lady at the rental counter said they only had Pajero and not Prado, and she tried to upsell me full insurance. When I refused, she insisted they only had Pajero. After I agreed, she suddenly mentioned they also had Prado. The service was quite lacking.

Renting and returning the car was very quick, no additional insurance was pushed, and the car was very new. I always choose this company for outings. Their prices are usually slightly higher than other companies, but considering the 16 days in New Zealand with a large car like the Highlander, the price from QEEQ is actually quite reasonable.
