Christchurch Airport Pick-Up Procedures (6:00 am to 8:00 pm) When you're ready for pick-up, please call us at 0800 00 11 10 (available from pay phones; ask airport staff for the nearest one), 03 343 6943, or 021 247 0346. Then proceed to the nearest collection area. - For Domestic & International arrivals, our pickup location is on level 0, downstairs. With Air New Zealand check-in behind you, exit through doors 1 or 2. Look for our Hire Vehicle Transfer Shuttle; one of our friendly staff will assist you. The drive to our branch where your vehicle is located takes approximately 5 minutes.

Drop-off Instructions

Christchurch Airport Drop-Off Procedures (6:00 am to 8:00 pm) - Drive your car to our branch at 6 Sir Keith Park Place, Harewood, Christchurch 8051, located just 2.2 km from the terminal. Our friendly staff will check in your vehicle and ensure all paperwork is up-to-date. We will then transport you to your departure terminal via our Hire Vehicle Transfer Shuttle. - Please allow an additional sixty (60) minutes before your required check-in/reporting time to ensure timely arrival at the terminal. - If your flight departs at or before 6 am, we recommend using our after-hours service for a smooth experience. Refer to the next section for details. - Ensure that the fuel tank is full upon return. A $50 refueling charge plus actual fuel costs will apply if not filled; this amount will be charged to your credit card upon return. The nearest gas stations are Z Sawyers Arms (530 Sawyers Arms Road, Bishopdale) and Z Russley (2 Russley Road, Yaldhurst). - Additional charges may apply if the vehicle is returned in an unreasonable condition; these costs will also be charged to your credit card.

    Car was pretty old, with 160,000 miles on it. All four tyres were low and had to be pumped up. The paint on the hood and roof was mostly worn off. Mechanically it was fine. Car was advertised as a "6-person minivan" -- but it was far smaller than I had expected. I would call it a station wagon, not a minivan at all. I talked with BRC about exchanging it, and they were not interested. They only offered to have me pay 3x as much for a full-size van. They would not allow me to return the car early so I could rent from elsewhere.

When returning the car, I saw another domestic tourist who seemed to have had an accident. I overheard something about a lawyer, which made the situation seem unpleasant. The handling did not seem very appropriate. If you're not a local, you might find yourself in a difficult situation.
