When picking up the car, they told me the one I booked was too small and offered an upgrade to a brand-new Tucson. Initially, the total price they quoted was £700, which I thought was too expensive, so I declined and insisted on my original order. After some calculation, they said they could offer a discount, making the total £514. I thought it was acceptable and agreed, emphasizing that my original order was already paid for, and the final payment should be £514 minus what I already paid. They confirmed, but the final order receipt wasn't clear to me. Seeing 514 as the final number, I signed the paperwork. Later, at checkout, they said £514 was an additional charge, which was appalling as my original order was just over £300. After repeated discussions, they insisted the contract had ended and according to it, I owed £514. I've come to realize that even the British can be unscrupulous, taking advantage of the fact that Chinese people's English might not be perfect, mixing up additional charges with the total price. I'd advise future renters to be cautious of upgrade traps, even with big companies.
The paperwork took over an hour. Terrible service. I booked an SUV but they gave us a station wagon. If I had known, I would have booked a station wagon from the start since it's cheaper. They charged £120 for a second driver and said it could be refunded if canceled, but it turned out to be a scam.

My car rental experience this time was very bad. I rented a car in July to go to the UK and returned it more than an hour late. The return location was in Edinburgh and was very hard to find. I used navigation to find the underground car park at the train station, but my husband and friends couldn't locate the return entrance. Later, customer service told me it was fine since I was already on site and the extra hour wouldn't be counted, but I was still charged. The wheel rim was slightly scratched, and after returning to China in August, my £180 deposit was never refunded and an additional £40 was charged, totaling £220. No one informed me about this unclear transaction. I will never use Europcar again.
Waited half an hour for the shuttle and then another 20 minutes to get to the car rental company. I presented all the required documents as per the platform's requirements and paid online in advance. Once there, I was told I couldn't pick up the car because I needed an international driving permit. I called customer service, and they said they would coordinate. An hour later, they called back and suggested I switch to another rental company like Enterprise. I had to take a shuttle back to the airport and then another to the new rental company. I arrived in London at 1:30 PM, and by the time I got back it was almost 4:00 PM. I had an appointment at 5:00 PM, so I had to cancel the rental. I called a taxi, which cost me 30 pounds to get back to the hotel. It's been over a week, and I still haven't received a refund. An 8+ rating is ridiculous; is this company using us as guinea pigs?
Extremely dissatisfied, severe mistreatment of customers. They claimed our car was too dirty to tolerate. If they say it's intolerable, does that make it so? We still had time before return, and we were willing to take the car for a wash, but they said once the car entered their store, it wouldn't be allowed out. We still had over an hour before the return time, but they wouldn't let us leave. The cleanliness standard was entirely up to them. I didn't think it was dirty, just had some sand and mud inside from our trip to the Scottish Highlands. Isn't that normal? They delayed our time to catch the flight, insisting we pay a £100 cleaning fee. I just want to ask, does cleaning need to cost £100? I will never choose this company again, very dissatisfied. Goodbye!
I saw many online reviews mentioning people getting ripped off, but I didn't believe it. Unfortunately, I fell into the same trap with a forced vehicle upgrade! The sales staff at the store were terrible! They indirectly forced me to upgrade the vehicle and verbally assured me there would be no extra charge! However, when signing, the additional upgrade fee was included! Scammers! For a 13-day rental, I initially paid almost 5000 RMB, but with the upgrade, they charged an additional 7500 RMB, averaging over 900 RMB per day! At this rate, I could have rented a Range Rover! Disgusting!
Very dissatisfied. The provided car did not match the booked model. I booked a Sharan, but got a Citroen Picasso C4 instead. They claimed it was the same class, but their attitude was irresponsible. It took five hours of negotiation at pickup, delaying our trip.
