Car was over 8 years old, 140,000KM on clock and every panel had dents and scratches. Discount did not know how to open the car, the central locking didn't work. Shutle bus operator got lost on way to and from the airport to the car yard. Efpos machine didn't work for deposit. They do not take AMEX which we discovered on landing. Took 2 hours from landing to getting in the car. Missed appointments because of it.
The picture of a late model Camry is not what we were offered when we arrived. The car was 2006. This is blatant false advertising.
The matter was resolved after I complained with a 2016 Ssangyong. A shame it had to happen at all.

everything was awesome from car condition, cleanliness and spacing. the customer service were superb. two things i can say about the van is (1) when you’re driving uphill it struggle a little bit to keep up with the rest of the car on the road. my second concern, i was told that the release of the bond will take 2 weeks to get back on my credit card account. what if i needed the money now? the release should not take that long as it may lead to inconvenience to some people like me.
It was a alright experience. The only thing was that there was a hidden cost for bond which was not mentioned when we were booking the rental. Also we were told of a Toyota Yaris but ended up getting a different car. Maybe the online system needs to be updated. But over all it was alright thanks for the rides.
First, I want to say I'll never choose this company again just to save a few bucks. I rented an SUV during my trip to Queenstown and had a minor collision, nothing serious. A Rental told me the estimated repair cost for the two cars involved was 3000 NZD. Even though repair costs in Queenstown are high, this is five times more expensive than Auckland. When I asked for a detailed cost estimate, they couldn't provide one. But that's not the main issue; it's their attitude. After the accident, they didn't fully assist me. When I asked for help with the cost estimation, they said they had no time. As an international student with no experience, I raised my voice a bit, and they threatened to call the police. I didn't even curse, yet they accused me of being emotional. It's natural to be upset when dealing with such unhelpful service after an accident on a trip. Had they been helpful, I would have been grateful and wouldn't have raised my voice. Everything would have been much smoother. Also, their response time is terribly slow. They didn't contact the third party for a whole day, so I handled it myself. It's been two days now, and they still haven't told me the repair cost. Please, improve your efficiency. I've experienced firsthand what it means when they say Chinese people take advantage of other Chinese people.
I didn’t take car because after not being able to contact this company from airport,after finding them kms away the customer service was extremely rude and soggy so I didn’t take car as didn’t trust them ,so he was a rude person , English was bad ,he won’t help me in any way I asked for his name he said Bruce lee ,so I walked 3kms back to airport to hire from another company so I lost all my money to this company what a joke

This was our worst rental car experience ever. The vehicle provided was a 2011 Rav 4 which was really run down. Although the car was clean, it was not in a good mechanical condition. When booking; we were shown that we will be given a good car (new car photos are shown there) but what was provided was really horrible. The car had very bad wheel alignment and kept going to the left, the windscreen glass was chipped, wiper blades did not work properly, made noises and I could barely see the road because the wipers were not doing a good job. The vehicle was a rough ride and rear wheels made noises. We kept the car for a couple of hours and then returned it as we did not feel it was safe enough to drive it to Milford Sound (4.5 hours drive each way) or other trips. We had to then book a replacement rental car at a much higher rate over $500 for 3 days as our activities were pre-booked and we would lose the money if we cancelled last minute. Discount Rentals were not willing to help us with a replacement car despite there being a number of cars available. They did not want to refund or do anything about it. They were not helpful and we were left in a desparate situation in the rain!!! I very very disaapointed, upset and it made my first day in Queenstown really horrible.
Car was old, very high mileage 162k
Back bumper held on by black tap, big dent in the roof, front bumper coming away from bodywork lots of small dent and scratches, radio only worked on right hand speaker. Basically car should not be used for rental. $2,500 deposit left for any damages was more than what the car was worth
Stanley was very courteous and friendly and answered our questions thoroughly. It just took a while to work on the admin stuff before going on our way.

Excellent customer service. Ben picked us up from the airport. Took us smoothly through the process. Gave us ideas on what to do in Queenstown. When dropping the vehicle off there was no hassle. Ben took us back to the airport. He was very well mannered and professional. Gave us a good start and ending to our trip. I run my own business and believe that customer service is the most important. The car had a few dents and scratches. However it was great to drive. We had no issues with the performance of the vehicle. I would recommend this company to anyone. They were very easy to deal with. What you need when you're on holiday. Well done.
