When I arrived at the car rental company, they told me I hadn't purchased insurance and suggested I ask the rental platform about it. When I contacted the rental platform, they told me to ask the car rental company, as they were not sure. I went back to the car rental desk, and the representative said my order showed no insurance and advised me to spend around 290 to get one. Being abroad with no other option and not wanting to risk any issues, I spent 300 NZD for comprehensive insurance plus a full tank of gas. So is this the car rental company's issue or the rental platform's issue? I'm not sure. Anyway, I drove for seven days without any problems. The roads were great and driving carefully was no issue at all!
We scheduled the car pickup at Christchurch airport at 3 PM, but the vehicle wasn’t cleaned and ready until around 3:50 PM. We waited for nearly an hour.
The reserved car model wasn't provided, and they claimed it was because Mitsubishi cars have poor quality. That's astonishing information. If Mitsubishi cars are that bad, why haven't they gone out of business? And why are you still renting them out?
The rental company provided a translation of the driver's license but it lacked New Zealand's certified translation. A paid service was required on-site. If the rental company had provided it, it would have been free. Communication was not very smooth.
They were still trying to upsell insurance products when picking up the car. I hope the car rental and the platform can synchronize user insurance information timely. If additional insurance is needed, then formally offer it. Otherwise, it's hard to figure out the difference between the insurance bought earlier and what they were selling, and we almost double-paid.
There was no 8-seater vehicle available on the spot, and no shuttle service was provided. Fortunately, after insisting for two hours, the previous renter returned the car early, solving the issue. Overall, not providing alternative solutions was quite unsatisfactory.
If I could give a zero, I would. Ezi Car Rentals deserves zero stars. Unilateral contract breach, numerous traps... absolutely no integrity, outrageously deceitful. I will never consider Ezi for future travel!!!
