Adding an extra driver costs £10 per day, which was not stated on the website. Only found out upon arrival. No Chinese-speaking staff at the counter; there is a Chinese service on WeChat, but it takes a few hours to get a response.
This is a shameless car rental company. The store employees are negligent and do nothing, tampering with the original rental agreement. The company supports them and even asks customers to provide video and audio evidence, arbitrarily charging customers. Complaints are ineffective and lawsuits are inconvenient, resulting in significant losses.
The British are absolutely unreliable, be very cautious when renting a car! I recommend recording video and audio during car rental!
Overall, everything was satisfactory. However, the daily mileage limit of 241 kilometers was not consistent with urocar's requirement of 150 kilometers. Additionally, the online waiting time for addressing issues was too long.
The location is quite far from the airport, with the shuttle bus coming only every 45 minutes. During our trip, we were rear-ended by another vehicle, but couldn't reach the rental company's helpline, so we had to go to a nearby rental office. Thankfully, a Chinese-speaking customer service rep helped us with the insurance claim. We had to fill out the claim form online, and again when returning the car. The insurance company's website was very poor, and any submission error meant starting over. We ended up filling out the form numerous times! Though the price wasn't bad, overall, I can only say it was average.
The pick-up and drop-off speed was very fast, staff were very professional. Right turn after exiting T4, there's a dedicated car to pick up customers. Immediate service, very pleasant experience
The car given to me was not clean at all, from the soaked driver's seat to the dirty back hatch! The entire car was full of scratches, about 10 in total!!! As an Avis fan, having traveled around the world with Avis, this is the worst car I have ever seen! I hope I can get an explanation!
The car model availability was random. I wanted to rent a Ford Focus but it was always unavailable. There were very few automatic cars. I ended up with a Korean car, a SsangYong. The first one had a side door that couldn't be opened from the inside. The second one was an old, beat-up piece of junk. Finally, I got another SsangYong which was just okay.
My rental company was Green Motion, not Carnect. The car was good, a Korean make. I originally booked a Volkswagen Golf, but they gave me the Korean car instead. This car might be more advanced than the Volkswagen Golf, making it easier to drive and more comfortable to ride in. Many roads in the UK are narrow, and its lane departure warning system was very useful for those of us not used to driving on the left. Additionally, Green Motion's pick-up and drop-off procedures were convenient, and the staff's service attitude was good.
The pickup location was clear, we found it and got the car smoothly. However, the return location was not well explained as it was in the underground parking entrance of Euston Station. The store phone was unreachable, and there were no signs on the ground level. After searching for over an hour, we finally asked a local who directed us to the underground parking. The map and address provided by the rental company's customer service were inaccurate. It is recommended to have clear signage at the ground entrance or instructions indicating that the return location is in the underground parking.
1. They didn't coordinate properly with the rental website, causing me to pay the one-way fee twice.
2. The drop-off location was extremely unclear! They should provide a detailed address instead of just a postcode. We were instructed to return the car at Edinburgh train station, but couldn't find any signs or an office nearby. We had to drive around the busy area for a long time before calling the store to get the exact location. This issue isn't unique to us. After we parked, another car faced the same problem and only found the spot after asking the police. I've lived in Edinburgh for nearly a year, and even I had trouble. It's even more challenging for first-time visitors.
