The car we were given was an old model it was in poor condition, scratched on the outside a chip in the drivers side windscreen, high mileage and it felt unsafe to drive. After 1 day we took it back and hired another car from a different company.

Terrible car rental experience. For some unknown reason, the rental staff (Joe) picked us up with a sullen face, without greeting or smiling, which isn't a big deal since some people just aren't friendly or chatty, and I don't mind. However, on the way to pick up the car, we smiled and asked if there were any tips or things to note for first-time right-hand drive drivers. He bluntly said, 'No, just follow the traffic rules, nothing else to say.' He was completely indifferent. We had reserved a specific model (2009-2011 7-seater Alphard), but he picked us up with an older 8-seater Alphard, not our reserved model. I pointed out that we reserved a 7-seater, not this older 8-seater model, and he tried to deceive us by saying, 'This is an upgrade (7-seater to 8-seater).' When booking, the system showed an 8-seater, but it was cheaper than the 7-seater, so I chose the newer 7-seater. He insisted that was all they had. But the key point is: upon arrival at the car rental place, we saw the car we reserved. I asked why we couldn't have it, and he replied, 'That car's not available, you can only have this one. If you don't want it, we'll refund your money.' It was infuriating. We had a confirmed booking, but they wouldn't give us the reserved car. They said they'd refund the booking, forcing us to book again ourselves. It's ridiculous, taking advantage of us being new to the area, typical of fellow countrymen exploiting their own. We chose this rental company thinking it would be easier to communicate in a foreign country, but were mistreated from the start. It was impossible to find an alternative immediately, as we had just landed. When I said I'd call the booking platform, he said go ahead, he didn't care and offered to refund the booking. A call from what seemed his partner prompted him to give us the car we reserved. Though we finally got the right car, the process was extremely unpleasant, wasting almost an hour for them to refuel and let us return the old car. Strongly advise against renting from this company. Trusting the many positive reviews turned out to be a mistake. We had elderly and children with us, needing hot water for the child, which he didn't provide. Analyzing later, I realized they could rent the car at a higher rate during the peak season if I canceled. Understanding the desire to profit, but deceitful practices and rude behavior are unacceptable. We don’t expect extraordinary help, just to avoid being cheated. Business shouldn't come at the cost of losing one's conscience!

We chose this company believing it would be easier to communicate in case of issues, but it was a disaster from the start. We had no other options after just landing. Later, I said I would call the rental company, and he said go ahead. His partner called him and told him to give us the car we had booked. We eventually got the specified car, but the whole process was unpleasant and we wasted nearly an hour waiting for him to refuel and process the vehicle return.
I strongly recommend against renting from them. I trusted them due to the positive reviews but had a terrible experience. With elderly parents and kids in tow, and when asked for hot water, they said no. In hindsight, I booked half a year in advance at a low rate. During the bustling New Year's season, they could rent out the car at a high price if I canceled. They could rent out the reserved model at an even higher price. I understand making a profit, but cheating customers and conducting business in such a rude manner is unacceptable. It's about making money, not at the expense of integrity. We don't expect you to go the extra mile in a foreign land, but at least don't take advantage financially!

I was not conveyed by staff that I have to pay $35 in addition to what I have paid up front. I went to drop off the car and I was told that to go to Airport I need to pay $35 or else I need to Walk.

The booking process is so easy and price is very competitive always. This is my third booking in few months. However, It was disappointing that at this time neither Easy Car rental nor Yes Rental told me that there was hidden charge and I have to pay $35 to pay to go to Airport after drop off.
They are undermanned. There is only one person in the whole of Queenstown who works for the car company. The person who will pick up the customer is the same person who will process the car rental. They only have one 5 seater minivan to pickup and dropoff customers. For me and my wife who rented 2 cars, we needed to leave some of our companions in the airport to get the cars first from their location 7 minutes away from the airport. During the drop-off we needed to drop-off our companions first in the airport and then brought the cars. When we dropped the car, there was someone ahead of us so he needed to bring that first group to airport first and come back for us. The only good part was the Chinese guy who is the only one doing everything was very apologetic.
The car was older than we expected, and the GPS did not have english capability; it was all in Japanese, and those who worked at the car rental agency couldn't fix it or swap to another car that had an english GPS. Brakes were also not very strong.
Rental pick up afterhours is through 3rd party and we waited for almost an hour. Tried phoning different numbers and asking other shuttles for help but nobody was aware of shuttle services for car company.
The shuttle driver finally answered phone half asleep and grumpy.
Car itself was ok and spacious but customer service was poor
After a minor collision in Queenstown, the rental company deliberately did not mention any charges for four days. When returning the car, they suddenly demanded a fee; otherwise, they wouldn't let me go! If I wasn't rushing to catch a flight, I would have called the police or sought consular assistance! This rental company is malicious, deceptive, and unethical! Be very careful! Don't be tempted by their low prices, as it will cost you more in the end!
