Excellent service by all, except for woman upon returning the vehicle. Needed roadside assistance once, a very expedious and problem-free experience.
Woman when returning vehicle was quite rude, definitly having an off-day.
Staff were good but needed more information on where to drop off car as hard to find and had to ask directions twice from staff at airport.
The sat nav wasn't satisfactory and couldn't find my final location despite having full address including post code, additionally it needed up dating. In the end we ended up using google maps to get us there and back. The staff at budget however had no issues giving me a refund so good staff.
Since I arrived at Toronto Pearson Airport at night, I directly went to the car rental counter. Because I had already paid for the rental in advance, the entire process was completed in just 5 minutes.

First I had to request a domestic as they tried to put me into a KIA Forte when I was expecting a Ford Fusion. Ended up with a Chev Impala which was fine. At return they tried to stick me with some vehicle damage that was shown to me at pick up but was marked incorrectly on the initial inspection sheet. Then tried to charge me a late return fee because they had entered in the wrong info. The only reason I went with them was because of the unlimited mileage as I was going to Montreal and back, a 2000km trip and the usual 200km per day for 7 days wasn't gonna do the job. I ate the extra charges that pushed the rental up to $490+, over $100 more than expected because I wouldn't have been able to get another vehicle elsewhere on zero notice. Will not be dealing with them again.
We arrived at the Budget/Avis counter at Montreal Trudeau International Airport around 8 AM, but there was no one there, even though their business hours state they open at 6 AM. A middle-aged woman showed up after 8, looking very displeased as if we had disturbed her sleep. We handed her our rental voucher, and she processed the pickup and added an additional driver at my request, explaining that for spouses, there is no extra charge. Initially, we were happy as it saved us some money. However, when we reached the parking lot, we saw they had given us a Chevrolet Spark, the same model we originally got from Alamo in Vancouver, which has a trunk too small to fit two suitcases. Alamo eventually replaced it with a new Golf. We went back to the counter to request a different car, but the lady's attitude worsened, saying they had no cars of the type we booked and that if we wanted a bigger car, only a C-class KIA was available for an additional 10 CAD per day. We argued that since they didn’t have our booked car, the upgrade should be free. She insisted that the Spark was in the same group as our booked car and that we needed to pay for a larger one if desired.
We then contacted Mr. Zhang from your Guangzhou headquarters, who had provided excellent service before our trip and left us his WeChat for any issues. We reached him via WeChat voice, and after hearing our situation, he agreed that the other party was at fault and promised that the customer service would call us soon. Your company’s customer service called quickly, communicated with Budget, but it seemed like the problem wasn’t resolved. The customer service suggested we agree to the upgrade fee to complete our trip and discuss it later. Meanwhile, the woman had already given the KIA to someone else, implying we no longer had that option.
Ultimately, they gave us a Hyundai Elantra, charging us an additional 32 CAD, with the remaining amount to be charged upon vehicle return.
Being forced to upgrade for a fee left us very dissatisfied with Budget.
L’employée lors de la prise du véhicule était de mauvaise humeur désagréable et non professionnelle. Il y avait des griffures pas annoncées que j’ai dû ajouter sur les remarques. Le GPS pas à jour une catastrophe et il s’éteignait tout le temps !!! Demandez un GPS intégré ...
Le personnel de Toronto n’est pas bilingues et nous a pas laisser le choix du véhicule qui restait à disposition alors que la réservation datais du mois d’avril et nous a offert en contrepartie le plein d’essence qui était en réalité vide . Donc très mécontent même si le véhicule était p’us Grand mais surtout plus bas . Mes reins s’en rappelles encore . Donc non !!!
The budget car rental to charge us for more upon arrival. We asked about what charge it is. The staff simply say that the charge is caused by ‘he didnt know what it is’. we argue for like 10 mins to get that settled.
And they will ask you for add-on insurance. They will tell you that your package does not cover the damage of the car. But actually i have already buy the AXA package at easyrentcar. So, simply ignore them!
The staff at the pick-up site even asked us to stand under the sun for 30 mins to wait for the car to be washed. And after we get the car, he gave no advice or instruction on using the car. I found many clients didnt even know how to start up the engine.
The car is quite dirty. Food remains and rubbish in the drawer. We reserved the chevlort spark but eventually give us a much later Mazda. you can never guess what car budget is going to give you, so simply book the cheapest one.
