The battery was completely dead and wasn't detected or replaced in time, which led to a breakdown during the trip. After calling the emergency support hotline, we waited in the snow for 3 hours with no assistance. Eventually, we had to buy a new battery at our own expense to get the vehicle working.

I rented an XC60, which is categorized as a mid-size luxury car. Upon arrival, I was told I could only choose between a Nissan X-Trail or a Ford S-Max. After unsuccessful negotiations, I had to settle with one of these cars. Do these two models qualify as mid-size luxury cars?

The waiting time was extremely long. Each transaction took significantly longer compared to our experiences in other countries and companies. We rented 2 cars; they gave us one right away but said the other one hadn't arrived yet. After 40 minutes, they gave us the keys to a car that hadn't moved from the parking lot. It was a waste of time, taking a total of 3 hours from paperwork to departure.

For the second part of our trip, we rented a car. With the experience from the first part, everything went very smoothly. We rented the same model as before but found it too big, so we asked the rental company for a smaller one. Returning the car was very convenient; we drove to the parking lot, and the staff just checked the fuel gauge to complete the return. It was very quick.

When picking up the car, we found its condition unsatisfactory, primarily due to high mileage. We expressed our concerns to the rental company and Hertz replaced it, which we appreciated. However, there was an issue with being forced to buy insurance at the store. Even though we had already purchased it on QEEQ, they insisted. This was frustrating.

The staff forcefully upsold services and provided an inaccurate navigation address for the car exchange location, causing a lot of wasted time in searching and making international calls for help. We booked a Fiat but received a local Italian brand car instead, which was in poor condition and very dirty inside. I believe this issue is specific to Hertz Italy. Last time we used Zuzuche in France, we booked a Polo but got a C4 estate, which was much better. This time the experience was very poor. Additionally, we were stopped by the police right after setting off. Fortunately, the translated documents from Zuzuche and the original driver's license helped us pass smoothly, which proves the validity of the translated documents. However, it was quite a scare. If you have time, it’s recommended to get an official certification from the embassy or consulate for more assurance.
