“Sydney-Melbourne-Great Ocean Road-Canberra-Sydney, really the other places aren't that interesting,”
About apollo_motorhome:8.0/10
The rented RV had quite a few cockroaches, hygiene was average. The sink drainage was poor, we fixed it ourselves by connecting the campground's water hose to the sink drain and turning on the faucet to clear it. Halfway through the trip, the wooden panel of the fridge door fell out and scraped the floor, so we had to repair it ourselves. A few years ago, their cars were very close to the airport, now they are quite far.
“A bit rushed from Sydney to Great Ocean Road, not recommended for motorhomes.”

There were many pitfalls. I bought full insurance in China, which turned out to be useless. The rental company gave us two options: either a $5000 deposit, which would be returned after 6 weeks with a 2% credit card fee and 4-6% exchange rate loss, resulting in a $300-400 loss; or buy their insurance at $45 per day, totaling $270 for 6 days and no $5000 deposit. Reluctantly chose the second option, which started a 6-day nightmare of a motorhome trip. The vehicle had already run 159,000 kilometers. Is this really a 3-year-old car? The dashboard looked like it belonged to a 10-year-old car. It was a Toyota Hiace. At speeds over 60 km/h, the tire and wind noise were louder than a plane taking off. The driver at the front couldn't hear the passengers at the back. We only slept in the van for one night because it was too uncomfortable. If you have three people, it’s better to rent a six-person motorhome for more comfort. The power system in the van was broken, one burner on the gas stove was not working, and the other burner required careful handling to ignite. Returning the vehicle, they required the exterior to be cleaned, otherwise, there was a $150 cleaning fee. This was not communicated clearly by the rental agency, leading to a very poor impression of the service.
Overall service was average. We were not attended to for half a day and had to actively seek out staff. The pickup process was self-operated at a kiosk, but the car's condition was excellent.
“Apollo New Zealand is a scam. QEEQ offers no help either.”
About apollo_motorhome:2.0/10
Scam company. At the start of our trip, a Chinese-speaking customer service representative persuaded us to choose a luxury package for 928 NZD, claiming we wouldn't have to clean or worry about anything. They confidently assured us that we just needed to drop off the keys at the end of the trip.
When we returned the car, the Chinese-speaking representative was nowhere to be found. Instead, a heavy-set person greeted us and demanded we pay 250 NZD because the floor wasn't cleaned and the walls weren't wiped. They didn't allow us to clean it at their store or nearby.
We argued that the package we purchased included cleaning, but they denied it, stating that it was just something the employee said and only the manager's words mattered. We were forced to pay 250 NZD.

There are Chinese staff who can speak Mandarin at the store. However, they kept trying to upsell additional services, like highway toll packages, return car cleaning packages, and full tank return packages. They charged $87 for the full tank package, claiming it was a company discount. But later on, I found out that refilling the tank costs just over $60, so this so-called discount felt like a rip-off. Not very trustworthy.

About apollo_motorhome:10.0/10
A very professional company with very convenient pick-up and drop-off process. Since it was an RV, airport pick-up and drop-off were not available, which is understandable due to RV limitations. The most surprising part was that the rental order was for a Volkswagen RV, but instead, I received a Mercedes-Benz RV. It was high-end and luxurious, totally worth it.
The staff at the store heavily promoted one of their insurance packages, saying that I couldn't get the car without buying it. I think more details could be improved, including folding chairs and tables that should be included in the rental price. Renting these items at the store can be expensive, and the staff will promote various packages. Additionally, if you don't buy the insurance package, a pre-authorization of 7500 AUD will be placed on your credit card, with a 2% bank service fee. These details should be clarified by the rental company. In the end, I had to buy another insurance package. I hope future renters understand these details to avoid redundant purchases.
Purchased super insurance in China. Due to the language barrier, the store charged an additional over 200 SGD. Despite multiple calls to the local rent a car service, no one answered. It's practically useless. Rent a car service cannot provide effective help to those who do not understand foreign languages.
