Counter staff was nice, Car was easy to find, spent about 15min getting the car, Only down side was they wanted me to find what was wrong with the car (felt like i was doing there job) so did a video, photos and also on the sheet, car had quite a few scratches and scrapes that needed to go on the sheet this should all have been done by gold car. Car was average clean.
An absolute joke, trying to sell their own insurance, scaring that without this insurance I won't be able to visit the majority of the places, which was false. Big queues as well. AVOID GOLDCAR!
The car was fine just covered with scratches and scuffs! Absolute rip off with the guy at pick up insisting that I take full insurance before letting me have the keys for a car that was already damaged! Ridiculous. Will never use this firm again.
On uplifting the vehicle it was found to be very under powered for the road conditions. Contact was made with Goldcar Alacanti who were very helpful in relation to changing the car. On attending the car hire at the airport we were provided with another vehicle that had dirty seats, scratches and body damage not highlighted on the approved documentation. The car required an activation code for the entertainment system, Goldcar were contacted regarding accessing the code and advised they would call back but never did. We were overall very disappointed with the after care service of Goldcar.
Very bad experience when contacting the counter at the airport. The couple in front of me had the same experience. The woman at the counter even tried to stop us talking to eachother. My papers said: Amount payable at pickup 0€. They charged me, with an unfriendly attitude, extra 28€ in local taxes (they said). They then want me to get an extra inssurance at 190€ (the carrental was 70€ for 1 week). When i said no, they want me to sign some very small written letters legal papers saying i was resposible for everything and the chaged med 1400€ on my credit card.
When i recieved my "Alpha Romeo" i thought i had rented i recieved a very bashed VW Golf with very low engine power. It took me some while to inspect the car because it had so many bashes. I found two new ones wich had not been recorded. On my holliday I dreamed of how i would come back and they would find something i missed and then charge me MAX. I considered not using the car on the trip or rent another one because it was too risky to use it. A very bad experience. Everything went well though, but i can still sweat thinking of the bill if i had made even the smallest mistake in the trafic.
We were told we had to pay £50 in airport taxes but on closer inspection this was due to the car being a new diesel one - none of which we asked for. We have tried disputing this but the staff wouldn't give us a car without us paying it. We'll never use them again

Car was a right banger with that many scratches and dents I went back into airport to be shown the paperwork showing all the marks. Got told I needed to pay 8% tax on vehicle and airport tax. Cost me £152 and was told if I didn’t pay that the car hire would be void after 6 hours. So had a choice of either paying it or standing there for 6 hours then not getting car. I have since received £117 back for fuel. When picking up my mother in law asked a few different car hire companies about this tax and they said they had never heard of it. NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE GOLD CAR.
I have used goldcar once before and this was in January 2019 when I booked with Ryanair. The staff at the desk in Alicante were a bit rude and insisted that I pay another airport service charge although I had already paid this when I booked the car hire through Ryan air car hire. I paid the airport charge as they insisted that I had to before I could have the car and told me that it was nothing to do with them that I had already paid it. They tried to do exactly the same this time but I had a copy of your booking firm and it said what was included and clearly stated was airport charge. He wasn’t happy when I showed him the form and said they didn’t normally deal with your company but he then I think accepted it. I will only find this out when I contact my credit card company.
The car was a Fiat panda and had lots of damage on it, too much really for me to record at the time so I left the car where it was and took lots of photos. Whilst I was completing the paperwork there were 2 other customers having heated arguments with the staff about the service they had received as well so my complaint is obviously not the only one.
When I returned the car they tried to say that I had caused damage to the door mirror - this damage was obviously very old and had definitely not been caused by me. Fortunately I had a photo of this on my phone and he accepted this.
I will not be using goldcar again as the 2 experiences I have had with them have both been bad.

Everything was very good and I will use the company again. I travel to Spain quite a lot - my next trip will be 17th may so I need a company I can trust to rent a car from.
I had purchased excess insurance prior to travel, but had communication problems at the rental desk. Although I eventually realised that my credit card was scanned for insurance & fuel deposit only - I presumed I was being "charged" for these services. I was therefore reluctant to hand over my card. It would make sense to have this explained to me prior to travel or on an information sheet at the rental desk
I paid on internet 31,85€ for a car rental for four days. When I arrived there, I was asked to add 125€ for insurance otherwise I shoud have paid a deposite of 1100€. It was written anywhere.
Finally I paid 156€ for a car rental for 4 days
It's incredibly expensive and dishonest.

Trying to scare us into buying additional insurance and upgrading the car. They said the insurance we had payed for with easyrent was no good and they would take the money if there was an incident and we wouldn’t get it back with our policy. Expensive fuel service charge for having fuel in the tank which was not mentioned or justified as well as airport tax.
CAr was good, the issue is the deposit and the returned documents are not clear. I beleive all was good with my return but until I receive my deposit backI am not sure!
Regarding the car and location of offices are very good.
Unfortunately I paid higher price for rent car as was declared on Easyrentcars. It was surprise that I should pay additional something.
Contract says show national license driving with Latin letters.
I pre-booked full coverage .
GOLDCAR says my national driving license is not valid in Spain but with extra 110€ it will be valid. I had no choice to pay extra 110€ for 4 days.
