Pick-up Instructions

The ACE Rental Cars - Christchurch Airport car hire location is located out of the airport

Complimentary pick-up and drop-off service to our Christchurch Airport branch for customers from business time. The shuttle operates to Christchurch airport domestic & international terminals and Christchurch airport accommodation. CUSTOMERS ARRIVING AT CHRISTCHURCH AIRPORT Call 0800 502 277 (+64 3 360 3270) to arrange a pickup to by a Ace Rental Cars shuttle to collect their rental car, after collecting your luggage exit the terminal and make your way to door 2, near the regional arrivals/departures lounge where the shuttle will pick you up. If pick up time is within after hour period, please provide relative information to branch and there is an after hour fee.

Drop-off Instructions

Shuttle service to Christchurch Airport domestic and Christchurch Airport international terminals from 07:15am – 18:45pm. DEPARTING FLIGHTS Allow an additional 30 minutes prior to flight check-in time for vehicle return & transfer to terminal.If returning your vehicle outside of business hours simply park outside our Christchurch Airport branch, lock the car and place keys in drop box on the far left side of the front entrance in the corner. Please note that our courtesy shuttles are not available outside of business hours and you will need to make your own way from the Christchurch Airport branch. IMPORTANT Leaving the car in the Airport Carpark will cost $60 in addition to all hourly parking charges incurred.

ACE Rental Cars does not allow to bring the rental vehicle to ferry. You will drop off your car at one port and collect another after crossing to the other island. A minimum of 3 days consecutive rental required in each island (If the minimum length of rental requirement is not met, then the rental will be charged as two separate hires.).

It's important to take photos of the fuel gauge when picking up and returning the car. The gauge appeared full when I picked up the car, but it wasn't actually full. I realized this after refueling; a full tank would cover over 700 kilometers, but the car could only go 605 kilometers when I picked it up. When returning the car, my tank showed 688 kilometers left, 83 kilometers more than when I picked it up. The rental company claimed I didn’t fill it up and charged me over 60 NZD. Fortunately, I took photos and the rental customer service helped resolve this issue for me. Based on my overall experience in New Zealand, I want to believe the rental company didn't do this intentionally, but their process needs to improve. Everything else was smooth. For Christchurch, you need to wait for their shuttle at the designated airport location. For Dunedin, simply park at the designated spot and return the keys to the counter.
