The store staff are outright scammers! They said the deposit and the fees for not using toll roads would be refunded when returning the car, but when I returned it, they didn't honor their word, claiming I agreed to the insurance purchase and directly charged me. Do not rent from this company!

The counter staff used every method to sell us insurance. They showed displeasure when we declined and even said we couldn't rent without it. Eventually, we resolved it by contacting the rental company. When renting a car in the USA, be extra vigilant and do not buy extra insurance; it's quite expensive.

Terrible service from Dollar. After waiting in line to reach the counter, the man initially greeted us with a smile but then spent about three minutes adjusting his watch before asking for our rental documents. He claimed we hadn't purchased any of the insurance options, even though I bought all the insurances on Zuzuche. I checked my order and confirmed we had them. When I called Zuzuche customer service, they confirmed I had purchased all the insurances. The man then tried to up-sell us a larger car for an extra $10 per day, which we declined. He insisted we prepay $67 for refueling, saying we should return the car with an empty tank, even though a full tank of gas for the Nissan we rented costs only $27. He then asked for a $75 deposit and demanded my signature, saying I could talk to the manager afterward because many people were waiting in line behind us. With no other option, I signed and spoke to the manager, who was the first person I saw. The manager promised to refund the deposit. When returning the car 15 hours earlier than planned, I asked the manager if I could get a refund for the unused time, but was told it was not possible. I had read online reviews about Dollar's poor service and aggressive charges, but experiencing it firsthand was worse than I imagined. I will never rent from Dollar again.

I fully paid at the time of booking, but when picking up the car at the store, many additional chargeable items were added without any consultation, and over $300 was pre-authorized. Despite my repeated confirmations that it was just a deposit, I was inexplicably charged $319 for rescue insurance after swapping the car, even though I had already purchased road assistance insurance.

Good service, well-maintained cars

No lines, bought the empty tank return service and roadside assistance on the spot. There was still one bar of fuel left when returning the car.

Average experience, frequent upselling. A lot of people renting cars, but not enough shuttle buses.

Forced insurance upselling, small company, long wait times for the car and long processing times, over an hour. Few service locations in other areas, strongly advised not to use. Even calling the customer service hotline was useless; they pushed the idea that more insurance means better protection. In the end, it was not as cost-effective as renting a larger car with full insurance.

Various scams. An Indian guy said I had to buy the insurance and refused to listen when I said no. He even refused to take a call from our Chinese coordinator! Eventually, he left the counter and hid. A woman came over to tell us our car was too small and suggested we upgrade to a bigger one. I said no, we need to resolve this issue. She replied, if you want to resolve it, find the guy from before because it's not my problem!
