“Good car and good service from Times rental cars”
About Europcar:8.3/10
We had issues with our IDP which wasn't dated (error by Post Office in the UK) but it took an hour to convince Europcar/Times to accept it was valid. Otherwise the Times staff were helpful and the return drop off details very good.
About QEEQ:8.0/10
Easy to book the car and one way hire options better than competitors- but hire overall was expensive vs other countries. Plus cost of tolls was not pointed out upfront.
Extremely polite service, nothing was too much trouble or effort. Assisted in changing the sat nav to English for us which made everything much easier.
About QEEQ:9.0/10
Customer service was very prompt in answering my queries.
Like: Responsive to booking and requests. Good that deal included extra driver and GPS (English) thrown in for free. It was also easy to extend the car for a day at a reaonable charge. Dislike: nil
Great car, very clean and paperwork was in English which was good. Counter service staff should be able to speak some English. This was not the case and made the collection process quite stressful.
“The car from Times Car Rental was very old and in poor condition.”
About Europcar:6.3/10
The car was not good. Dirty. Not cleaned outside for rental. The front window rain blade was too old that the plastic would not effectively wripped off the rain.
The staff were very friendly. Even when I asked about other travel-related questions, they spent a lot of time finding information and printed it out for me.
“wasted 2 and half hour when pick up car due to the misleading info from Easyrentcars.com (staff Shan”
About Europcar:8.3/10
I don't know why ask me to comment on Eurocar as i pick the car from times rental. Anyway the Japanese staff were excellent in everything. Service, car, information. I give 5 star for it and will definitely use this company again!
Like: CAR CONDITION WAS GOOD. VERY CLEAN. Dislike: NAVIGATION MANUAL WAS JAPANESE. AND NOBODY EXPLAINED HOW TO USE.
HARD TO COMMUNICATE WITH STAFF. THEY DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH.
1. The store is located at Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal, which is very inconvenient for foreign tourists. It's impossible for tourists not to take domestic flights in Japan, especially when returning the car before flying back home. They only offer shuttles to the domestic terminal, and customers have to take their own bus to the international terminal, which was difficult as we had heavy luggage and were all women. When we asked for extra help, they flatly refused! The domestic to international terminal shuttle bus was also very crowded, which made the experience quite distressing.
2. The insurance details were not clearly explained when booking the car, so we just chose the basic option. There were no detailed explanations given when we picked up the car. While using the car, we hit a roadside fence while reversing due to the narrow road. Upon closer inspection of the insurance policy, the highest compensation was 50,000 yen. Additionally, if the car can still be driven, another 30,000 yen (or 70,000 yen if it can't be driven), totaling 80,000 yen in fees! There was no room for negotiation, even if it was just a minor scratch. It felt so unfair! If they had explained the insurance details clearly, we could have just paid a small fee of 1,000-2,000 yen and resolved everything. Such a great trip was completely ruined in the end!
Europcar used Times' cars, but there was a communication issue. They couldn't find my order initially. I had to contact the rental platform, which wasted an hour of my time.
“Drove from Nagoya Chubu Centrair International Airport to Toyota City, then passed through Nagakute”
About Europcar:10.0/10
This time at Nagoya Airport, the car was serviced by Times. The staff there were very helpful, especially the young lady who spoke excellent English. She went through all the documents with me, page by page, placing them in a plastic folder for me. She then used a flashlight to show me the condition of the car, and sat in the passenger seat to explain all the controls in detail. After thoroughly explaining everything, she bowed and left.
