CAR RENTAL REVIEWS ON HERTZ IN MILAN

Never choose Hertz for car rentals. The waiting time is long, and any foreign member can cut in line ahead of you. The wait was at least half an hour, and the staff's attitude was poor. In all my overseas car rentals, this was the worst experience. Most importantly, they did not provide the car I wanted. I booked an Alfa Romeo Giulia but got a Volkswagen Touran instead, claiming it was an upgrade. Do two adults really need an MPV? If it weren't for the rain, my wife and child waiting for an hour and a half, and the long wait time, I would have canceled the order.

I reserved an Alfa Romeo Giulia, but they gave me a Volkswagen Touran instead, claiming it was an upgrade. There were only two adults, so why would we need an MPV? If it hadn't been raining, and my wife and kids hadn't been waiting for an hour and a half, and since it was past the free cancellation period due to the long wait, I would have canceled the order.

The procedures were clear and efficient, no unnecessary delays.

At pick-up, the amount given to me did not match the agreed order amount. The rental service resolved this. However, after returning home, I received several unexplained charges (fines) totaling nearly 2000 RMB. Hertz only sent an email, claiming there was a traffic violation caught by a traffic camera, with a deduction of 31 Euros. There were no violation photos, no evidence, and no official traffic tickets. The rental service explained that it was a 'violation management fee' charged by the car company, and the fine was separate, which feels unreasonable.

Excellent value for money, very affordable prices for renting a good car. The staff were polite.

They try to upsell insurance, but everything else is okay

Busy pick up location so a bit of a long wait. Helpful counter staff at a separate branch in the country when we had to drop in for extension of hire.

Helpful easy. But need to read fine print of how the voucher works.

Hertz were very professional

When picking up the car, a female staff member was deliberately making things difficult for us with a very bad attitude. Even though it was our turn, she intentionally allowed the foreigners behind us to go first. We had to find another female staff member who just started her shift to successfully rent the car. However, during the rental process, the staff member with the bad attitude tried to stop her colleague from assisting us. The staff member inspecting the car when returning it was nice, and the one handling the paperwork was acceptable. (No Chinese service available)

This was the most problematic car rental experience I've ever had! We waited in line for 4 hours to get the car, and the reserved model wasn't available. They gave us a problematic car with no fuel instead. Throughout the trip, the car had various issues and eventually broke down halfway, delaying our trip by an entire day. Customer service wasn't helpful either. Thankfully, the hotel owner helped us communicate with the rental company. It took two months of coordination with the rental platform to get a refund for the taxi fare incurred due to the car exchange. Hertz going out of business is not without reason!

Counter staff extremely helpful. Especially in informing me of the need to pay cash at the petrol station near airport as it did not accept cards. Overall counterstaff was very professional, courteous and helpful.
